Hey Meade County!
What a day! What a community! And what a great reminder of just how special Meade County really is.
On August 9th, we had the privilege of sponsoring the Sheriff Pat West Law Enforcement Appreciation Picnic — a chance for our law enforcement officers, dispatchers, firefighters, EMS, and other first responders to take a much-needed break, enjoy some incredible food, share some laughs, and spend a little time together during the middle of the Sturgis Rally craziness.
It is also an important fundraiser for Meade County Cares and the Fraternal Order of Police, North Hills Lodge. Because of the generosity of our community, these organizations are able to step up when our neighbors need a helping hand.
That means helping families when unexpected needs arise, supporting programs that make a difference for local kids, and most importantly, helping make Shop with a Sheriff possible each Christmas.
We are also proud to support the Tom Wilts Memorial Scholarship, which provides assistance to a Sturgis Brown High School senior pursuing a career in law enforcement.
And this year… Meade County absolutely showed up!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of local businesses, organizations, and individuals, we were able to raise more than $30,000 for Meade County Cares!
That is an amazing number — but even more impressive is what that number represents.
It represents neighbors helping neighbors.
It represents businesses investing in their community.
It represents people who believe that taking care of each other matters.
And it represents what can happen when Meade County comes together.
We simply cannot thank everyone enough for making this event such a tremendous success. From those who donated thousands of dollars to those who donated their time, food, prizes, auction items, or simply showed up and supported the event — you made a difference.
