Special thanks to the Sturgis Vets Club for hosting our first fundraiser of the year. Patrons braved 50 - 60 mph winds to feast on Kristina's tasty spaghetti.

Steve and Tom did an awesome job in the kitchen while GY6 committee members served up the meal.

Proceeds will go toward supporting Veterans and their family members at our November 7th. event.

This coming Thursday, March 12, please consider joining us for our first fundraiser of the year at the Sturgis Vets Club from 5 - 7 pm.

For $12, you get all the spaghetti you can eat, garlic breadsticks, dessert, lemonade or water and service with a smile!

A portion of the proceeds will help us fund the seventh annual Northern Hills Veterans Appreciation Fair - We've Got Your Six.

We are pleased to announce that registration is open for service providers to attend our November 7, 2026 event. This marks our seventh year of celebrating and showing appreciation for Veterans in the northern Black Hills. "We've Got Your Six" is open to all Veterans and their family members!

If you represent a service organization, you are encouraged to register early to reserve a spot for this phenomenal event. Guests are not required to register in advance.

It’s so nice to see our local businesses still supporting us! My heart swelled with pride when I saw our thank you card adorning the Christmas tree at Los Agaves Mexican Restaurant in Belle Fourche this evening.

The food and margaritas were excellent along with outstanding service from Jorge.

Master Sergeant Niles Harris was invited to attend our event on November 8, 2025. He had a commitment in Washington DC and was unable to join us in Sturgis.

However, today in a belated dedication we paid tribute to MSG Harris in recognition of his exceptional bravery during Operation Hump, War Zone D, Vietnam sixty years ago.

His actions demonstrated remarkable grit and determination that horrific day. Thankfully, Master Sergeant Harris returned to the United States after his courageous efforts.

We deeply love and honor this esteemed soldier of the United States Army for his commitment and sacrifice.

He was joined today by dear friends, and a brother Vietnam soldier of the Northern Hills Veterans Appreciation Fair.

Every year, we set aside 6 or more "extra special" prizes designated for Veterans only.

In addition to overnight stays at Spearfish Canyon Lodge, Tin Lizzie Gaming Resort, $300 gift certicate to the Buffalo Jump (just to name a few!!) each prize included a handmade quilt from the "Northern Hills Quilt Guild."

We are grateful to local businesses who generously donate each year to show appreciation for our Veterans!

Saturday, November 8, 2025 was another successful event to celebrate our Veterans in the northern Black Hills. Many drove a long way in nasty weather conditions to participate and be honored.

Weather very likely had an impact on our overall attendance as it was down slightly (6%.)
However, the good news is that we served more Veterans than ever and that is our number one goal!! Two hundred fifteen (215) Veterans were celebrated which is a 15% increase over 2024.

Our Opening Ceremony featured: Sturgis, Boy Scout Troop 109 Posting the Colors; the Black Hills State University Chamber Singers performing our National Anthem directed by Dr. Nero; Invocation by Deacon Tom Murphy; POW/MIA Remembrance by Sturgis American Legion Commander Craig Sanderson & the Sturgis, American Legion Riders; a 60th Anniversary of Operation Hump (Vietnam) tribute; and a plaque recognition to Retired MSG Niles Harris, survivor of Operation Hump.

Many, many thanks to all the service providers who were able to make it and to all the volunteers who helped set up and tear down.

PS - there are a lot of posts regarding our event. Clearly, we are very proud of our Veterans and happy that we can deliver this event to show our true appreciation.
