The Motorcycle Rally is almost behind us, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the Senior Center.

We will re-open on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.

We know the Rally brings a busy and exciting time to our community, but we are ready to return to our regular activities, and opportunities to connect with one another.

We look forward to seeing our members back at the Senior Center and getting back into our regular routine together.

Mark your calendars and plan to join us when we re-open on Monday, August 24, at 8:00 a.m. Join us for caramel rolls, biscuits and gravy, sausage patties and coffee at 8 am.

A heartfelt thank you to Vinny and Lori Terranova, owners of the Hideaway Diner in Whitewood, for their generous food donation to the Senior Center. Their kindness and support will help us provide several opportunities for our members and community to come together over a meal.

Because of this generous donation, our August 20 lunch and all Thursday lunches in September will be Free-Will Donation Lunches. The Senior Center will still need to purchase some additional food and supplies to complete these meals.

Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to noon, and we hope you will make plans to join us for good food and socialization.

There will **not** be a Soup and Pie Lunch in September due to the food that has been donated.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the various campgrounds that generously donate food to the Senior Center following the Rally. Their contributions are greatly appreciated and make a meaningful difference. These donations help us stretch our resources.

We hope you will join us for lunch and take advantage of this special opportunity. Any free-will donations received will help support the Senior Center.

Thank you again to Vinny and Lori, as well as the campgrounds that continue to support the Senior Center through their generosity. We truly appreciate each of you.

**Bring a Friend and Share the Senior Center Experience**

There is always something happening at the Senior Center, and we love welcoming new faces. Whether it is joining a game, attending a class, sharing a meal, participating in a special event, or simply stopping by to visit and connect with others, the Senior Center is a place to stay active, meet new people, and enjoy being part of a welcoming community.

As mentioned in our previous post, the **nonmember activity fee has changed from $2 to $5 per visit**. Friends and family members of any age are welcome to attend activities by paying the nonmember activity fee.

If someone enjoys visiting the Senior Center and plans to attend regularly, membership is a great value. **Membership is available to adults age 50 and older.**

For the remainder of 2026, anyone age 50 or older can join or renew their membership for just **$15**. Since three nonmember activity visits would total $15, a membership is an affordable way to enjoy the rest of the year's activities without paying the $5 nonmember activity fee each time.

Membership is about more than just saving money. It is an opportunity to become part of our Senior Center community, meet new people, stay active, enjoy a variety of activities, and build meaningful connections.

So, the next time you visit, consider bringing along a friend or family member. **Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy what the Senior Center has to offer, and for those age 50 and older, membership is a wonderful way to become part of our community.**

We look forward to welcoming you—and the people you bring along.

As we continue to evaluate our programs and operations to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Senior Center, the Board of Directors has made several important decisions at the July board meeting that will affect our daily operations. The Board of Directors voted to close the Senior Center on Fridays. Activities that were previously held on Fridays have been rescheduled to other days of the week.

The Senior Center was originally scheduled to reopen on August 20th. To transition to our new Monday through Thursday operating schedule, the reopening date has been changed to Monday, August 24.

The Board of Directors also approved an increase in the daily activity fee. Effective upon reopening, the fee for non-members to participate in activities will increase from $2 to $5 per activity.

COMING IN SEPTEMBER!

If you own a local business, or know someone who does, consider participating in our "You've Been Herd" campaign during the month of September. Businesses that donate $50 or more receive a complimentary promotional video featured on the Senior Center's page—a fun way to advertise while supporting a great cause.

We're also accepting donations for our Silent Auction, taking place September 15–24. Donations of gift baskets, gift certificates, merchandise, handcrafted items, or services are welcome. The donation deadline is September 9.

Thank you for supporting the Senior Center. If you have any questions, please contact us at 605-347-5877.
