A huge thank you to Cherry Grove Nursery for their generous donation to the Veterans Garden of Augusta!

They donated a ton of Echinacea pallida (pale purple coneflowers) and Anise Hyssop, also known as native hummingbird mint. These beautiful native plants will help support pollinators, attract wildlife, and add even more life and color to our garden.

Our goal is to incorporate as many native plants as possible throughout the garden, and generous donations like this help bring life.

We are grateful for Cherry Grove Nursery’s support and for helping us create a space that benefits both our community and the local ecosystem.

Thank you!

Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor the men and women who lost their lives in military service. While Veterans Day celebrates those who served, Memorial Day is set aside for those who never made it home.

The Veterans Garden of Augusta is not a memorial. Our focus is on serving and supporting the living, but we know that days like today can bring reflection, gratitude, memories, and sometimes grief.

If you need a quiet place to sit for a while, take a walk, think about someone you miss, or simply enjoy a little peace, the gate is always unlocked and you are always welcome.

Take a moment today to remember those who gave everything for our country.

Huge thank you!! to Kjellstrom + Lee Construction for donating the pavers and blocks we needed for the handicap accessible walkways out to the raised beds at the Veterans Garden of Augusta.

This is going to make a big difference for veterans, volunteers, and community members who come out to the garden, and we really appreciate the support.

Community projects like this only happen because people and businesses are willing to step up and help. Thank you for investing back into the community and helping us continue to grow.

We’ve got an important update and a call for help from the community 🌱

The Veterans Garden has been growing steadily, and it’s reaching a point where it needs more people involved to keep moving forward.

Right now, we’re looking for a couple people (not just veterans) to step into key volunteer roles:

• Volunteer Coordinator – organize and lead volunteer work days
• Planting Lead – help plan, organize, and guide what we grow and when

You do NOT need experience for either role.
We have mentors and advisors who help guide us, and this space is just as much about learning as it is about growing.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to grow food, work with plants, or just be part of something hands on from the ground up, this is a great place to start. Beginners are absolutely welcome here.

This isn’t about production or perfection. It’s about learning.

If you’re a veteran in the Staunton area (or know someone who is) and want to get involved, spend time outdoors, and help build something meaningful for the community, we’d love to connect.

Send a message or comment below and we’ll reach out.
