🎉 What a fantastic way to wrap up Medicare Fraud Prevention Week!

Today, we visited the Five Star Senior Center, and it was our biggest turnout of the week! The crowd had an absolute blast playing Senior Medicare Patrol BINGO.

🎰 Everyone went home with a new T-shirt and custom MFPW puzzles to keep the learning going. Most importantly, our guest speaker shared vital tips on how to prevent, detect, and report Medicare fraud. 🛡️

A huge thank you to the Five Star Senior Center team for hosting this wonderful event and helping us protect our community!🤝💙

🎉 Big thanks to everyone who joined us for our 4th mini SCAMboree today at Guardian Angel Settlement Association!

We had an incredible session led by Tim Calvin, Financial Wellness Director for the St. Louis Community Credit Union. Tim shared essential tips to keep our community safe from fraudsters:

Check accounts daily for tiny, unauthorized withdrawals.

📍Never share passwords or debit cards with anyone.

📍Limit account access only to strictly verified, trustworthy people.

📍Watch closely for common fraud red flags.

📍Report activity immediately to your bank if anything feels off.

We wrapped up the day with a lively round of our favorite game, "You Are Smarter Than A Scam Artist!" 🧠💡

Tomorrow, we are heading to the Five Star Senior Center (5 Star Center) to wrap up this amazing week of empowerment and education. See you there!

Reminder: St. Louis Activity Senior Center Statewide Scamboree & Watch Party

Celebrating Medicare Fraud Prevention Week! Medicare Fraud Prevention Week focuses on the actions everyone can take to prevent Medicare fraud, errors, and abuse. MFPW runs the week of June 5, or 6/5, because most people become eligible for Medicare when they turn 65.

On Tuesday, the St. Louis Area Agency on Aging (SLAAA) was honored for its work at the Senior Fund of St. Louis City Partner Recognition & Awards.

On behalf of SLAAA, Anneliese Stoever, Director of the SLAAA, a Division of the Department of Human Services, was the 2025 awardee for the Heart of a Leader Award. Stoever was nominated for the award by Dr. Adam Pearson, Director of the Department of Human Services, citing her leadership of SLAAA, especially following the 2025 tornado. Stoever continues to help host weekly virtual calls where organizations share resources and speakers discuss services for those impacted.

After receiving the award, Stoever took her turn at the podium to then introduce Samantha Ferguson Knight, Director of Senior Programming at LifeWise STL, who was the 2026 awardee for the Heart of a Leader Award. Stoever noted that, along with Knight, Dallas Adams, Disaster Case Manager Supervisor at LifeWise, Senior Fund, and Tracy Fantini, Executive Director of Housing Options Provided for the Elderly, Inc. (HOPE), created the first purely senior-focused Disaster Case Management effort in the country.
