💚🐄✊ Thank you to the four fierce activists who joined us for our protest at Culver's last Saturday!

Together, we showcased original vegan artwork, reached over 3,400 passersby, and urged people to ditch dairy and enjoy plant-based alternatives instead.

Several people honked in support, and the corridor leading to the South County Costco could hardly be busier; traffic was near nonstop, with over 30 cars driving past every single minute. People would often have to wait a minute or two before turning into the Culver's parking lot because the cars kept coming!

Known for its heavy reliance on cheese, butter, and other dairy products, Culver's is a Midwestern chain famous for their ButterBurgers and frozen custard. They claim their products are sourced from Wisconsin with "love."

But the dairy industry is anything but loving. It relies upon the forced impregnation of mother cows. Once they give birth, their babies are kidnapped and their milk stolen for human consumption.

Mother cows often bellow for hours or even days once farmers kidnap their babies. The stress of chronic heartbreak, abuse, and exploitation leads most cows exploited for dairy to become "spent" after just 3-5 years, at which point farmers send them to slaughter.

Baby male cows are frequently tortured for veal, and baby girls endure their mother's fate of repeat r**e, heartbreak, and eventual murder. Every slice of cheese and glass of milk not only comes with literal puss and traces of f***l matter, but veal, blood, and torture.

Please, do your part to end the suffering of mother cows and their babies. and enjoy plant-based milks, cheeses, and yogurts instead!

🗽🌍✊ No one is illegal, whether they are born in the US or elsewhere, whether they are human or otherwise.

The phrase "illegal alien" has long sickened us, and if you use that term, you are an inconsiderate bigot, full stop. They deserve more respect, and that begins with the language we use. Please say "undocumented immigrant," and recognize that as an American citizen, you have massive unearned privilege.

You are one of the luckiest human beings ever to live, born into the richest country in human history. Even here, many of us struggle. But even the bottom 10% of Americans are wealthier than billions suffering around the globe. That's not to minimize our suffering, but to contextualize it.

Just last week, at the end of our Plant Lovers Potluck, an owner of Lafayette Square Inn shared a story now seared into our memory. Not only did his family flee violence, persecution, and pogroms, not only did his ancestors endure slavery and its bloody legacy, but his great-grandmother crossed the ocean with a sick baby boy. Shipmates fearing contagion, she could not sleep for days lest her baby be ripped from her and thrown overboard, cruelly robbed of his one and only infinitely precious life.

Billions still face unbelievable adversity, fighting for a better life, just like our ancestors. These people are often immigrants, and it is not only shameful but profoundly disgraceful to hate, discriminate against, and terrorize them, as ICE is doing on American streets today. You do not have the right to strip people of their humanity. Shame, shame, shame.

It is an accident of fate that we were born here, at this point in history. Be grateful, and treat others with kindness, respect, and dignity, even (and perhaps especially) if they are immigrants. Because at some point, we were all immigrants betwixt a cold, indifferent universe.

As we often say, nature is cruel, but we don't have to be. Let's listen to our better nature and extend basic decency to others, that all may one day live safe, happy, and free. It is the least we owe each other.

✊💚🐷 Dear friends: it is with enormous pride that we report that Project Animal Freedom has become one of the top 200 largest animal rights/vegan advocacy organizations in the world.

While it took nearly eight years, 10,000+ hours of work, and 400+ events, in addition to tens of thousands of supporters, 2,000+ donors, and several dozen volunteers to reach this point, we'd do it all over again.

We are so proud of the thriving, kindly, big-hearted vegan community we have built locally. You have all played a foundational role in reaching this milestone; by supporting our core chapter, you help support our entire network and the movement for a fully vegan Midwest by 2056 we are helping build.

Following our latest batch of grant funding, including one $20,000 grant and another $24,000 grant, we have been able to not only properly fund our chapters, but also hire an Assistant Chapter Coordinator.

Over the next few months, we are going to launch another 2-4 chapters, pushing us past 10 active chapters for the first in our organization's history. And all those of you who supported us helped propel us to this point.

This movement is bigger than any one leader or any one organization, and achievements of organizations like Project Animal Freedom belong to the community who helped build them. You are responsible for this progress; everyday people like you are the bedrock of the animal rights movement!

Never underestimate how powerful you are and how meaningful even small acts of support can be. Whether you attend an event, donate $5, or simply like this post, you are making a difference, and your voice matters, now more than ever.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us over the years and helped us reach this point. Your support is invaluable, and you have helped make a world of difference for countless animals who will no longer suffer and die needlessly in factory farms and slaughterhouses, something we couldn't have accomplished without big-hearted supporters like you.

🌎🔥🐮 Animal agriculture is killing us, killing animals, killing the planet—and environmental organizations are complicit.

We could issue another neutral, fact-heavy, “good-natured” statement. Our movement has already done so *countless* times. So this time we’re going to be opinionated, because environmental organizations are failing us when we need them most.

We will never forget reaching out to every leading environmental organization in the St. Louis area to build a coalition for St. Louis’ first climate strike in nearly three years. Out of the half dozen groups we contacted, not one responded.

Their silence was not only deafening, but inexcusable. We have, at most, a handful of years to prevent catastrophic climate change, and we have already breached 7 of the 9 planetary boundaries identified by P*K Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, triggering tipping points from which there may be no recovery.

Yet animal agriculture is arguably the single most destructive industry on Earth, even more destructive than fossil fuels!

If we switched to a sustainable, plant-based food system, we could rewild an area of land roughly the size of the entire continent of Africa. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

We have known for over a decade that animal agriculture produces more greenhouse gas pollution than every car, truck, plane, train, and every other mode of transportation combined, even by the most conservative estimates!

It is the leading cause of Amazon deforestation, habitat destruction, biodiversity loss, water pollution, desertification, and species extinction.

But rather than act with the urgency this emergency demands, environmental organizations have tarried. They have failed us, they have failed the animals, and they have failed the planet.

Any environmental organization that advocates for anything less than complete and total animal liberation is failing us. Veganism is not just a moral imperative, but an environmental necessity of the most exigent importance.

The message is simple: go vegan—or we perish!
