Meds & Food for Kids Treatment of malnutrition through the manufacture and distribution of RUTF and RUSF (Ready-to-Use Supplementary Food);
2.

Meds & Food for Kids is dedicated to meeting the essential nutritional needs of malnourished children, pregnant and nursing women, and school children using Ready-to-Use-Therapeutic Foods (RUTFs) produced in our factory in Cap-Haitien, Haiti. Malnutrition in Haiti is the result of a combination of factors, and MFK’s four-pronged approach not only saves lives, but puts Haiti on the path to a strong

er future:

1. Creating jobs at its factory and training employees and farmers to improve their skills;
3. Educating peanut farmers in modern methods of agriculture; decreasing aflatoxin, a contaminant of peanuts; increasing incomes; and guaranteeing a sustainable market for their crops; and
4. Research and development of new therapeutic and nutritious products and better seed varieties and improved agricultural interventions. MFK is a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation in the United States and a registered Non-Governmental Organization in Haiti.

Our team recently spoke at a roundtable with the Ministry of Agriculture in Haiti about the importance of supporting local farmers. By transferring skills to Haitian farmers and sourcing raw materials locally, MFK strengthens food systems and local economies.

The North Agricultural Sector Roundtable was held under the coordination of agronomist Niva Orélus. For this edition, participants welcomed the organization Meds and Food for Kids, an organization committed to fighting malnutrition in Haiti...

Plumpy'Nut has treated more than 45 million malnourished children worldwide.

Before the introduction of RUTFs (Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods), treatment relied mainly on lengthy hospital-based care that was often difficult to access for the most vulnerable populations. With Plumpy’Nut, a simple, safe, and effective solution, care was brought closer to communities and treatment made accessible to millions of children.

This innovation marked a true global revolution:
• A simple treatment that can be administered at home,
• Rapid deployment in emergencies,
• and stronger collaboration of NGOs, international agencies, health systems, and local producers through the network.

Over the years, an entire value chain has been built around Plumpy'Nut: research, agriculture, local production, nutritional expertise, humanitarian logistics, and distribution reaching even the most remote areas.

Today, Plumpy’Nut is much more than a product: it symbolizes what collaborative innovation can achieve when it is designed for the field and for the populations that need it most.

Every life counts. At Meds & Food for Kids, we are grateful to be part of such a vital network with Nutriset and its partners. Together, we will continue to save the lives of vulnerable children suffering from malnutrition.

MFK's Plumpy'Nut changes the lives of children like Liline, who needed treatment for acute malnutrition. Our team is proud to partner with clinics who share in our mission to save lives.

Ten-year-old Liline's mother knew something was wrong. Her daughter had constant stomach pain and no appetite. Living far from our clinic in Rechimaud, she made the difficult journey, hoping for help. Liline weighed only 33 pounds and had level 2 malnutrition. Our team provided treatment and enrolled her in our Medika Mamba program, but recovery required a mother's commitment. Every day, she made sure Liline consumed her dose and encouraged her to eat. After her treatment, Liline had gained nearly 6 pounds. Her pain was gone. Her smile was back. A mother's love made the difference.

5 year-old Widmica arrived at MFK's partner clinic Real Hope for Haiti with persistent illness attributed to malnutrition, weighing half the weight of healthy girls her age. She received Plumpy'Nut, produced in our Cap-Haitien factory, and soon she gained weight, strength, and is now healthy again.
