MKLDC Business Manager Brandon Flinn welcomed Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe, Google President and Chief Investment Officer Ruth Porat, and industry leaders to the Missouri Laborers Training School for a firsthand look at how Laborers are training the workforce of tomorrow.

During the tour, guests saw the advanced equipment, innovative training programs, and hands-on learning opportunities that are helping prepare workers for careers in construction, energy, infrastructure, and technology-related projects.

Remarks from LIUNA VP David Frye, MO LECET Director Scott Hughes, and Training School Executive Director Josh Wright highlighted the value of investing in workers and building strong partnerships that support economic development.

We were honored to demonstrate why Missouri Laborers continue to lead the way in workforce training and development.

This is what workforce investment looks like.

Google’s Missouri expansion is expected to create thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of long-term operational careers. Beyond the project itself, every direct data center job supports nearly nine additional local jobs across the skilled trades and construction industry.

Investment in the Laborers and Contractors Training Center in High Hill will help train more than 2,300 construction laborers, including 1,500 apprentices, over the next two years.

Union apprenticeship programs continue to create pathways to family-sustaining careers while building the future of Missouri infrastructure.
