We are a non-partisan, grassroots organization working to harness the Article V authority of the General Assembly to limit the scope & power of the federal government, and impose term limits & fiscal restraints on its officials. Convention of States is working to get to 34 states to call a convention of the states, to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

It's no secret that our mission is opposed by the John Birch Society, and their biggest reasons are "lack of trust in the process" and "it could be a runaway".

Since the founding of our country, there have been 42 documented conventions of states. All have followed standard legislative protocols, and none have "run away".

The 2026 Iowa State Fair has come to an end, but the Fair Spirit shown by Iowans and fairgoers from across the country will continue to inspire Convention of States Action.

From August 13 through August 23, COS staff members and volunteers welcomed visitors at Booth 264 in the Varied Industries Building. Hordes of fairgoers stopped by to ask questions, share their concerns, and learn more about the movement to restore balance to the federal government.

An amazing number of visitors also signed the COS petition. In all, 5,139 petitions were signed during the fair. That makes 2026 the second-best year in all the years that COS has had a presence at the Iowa State Fair.

One day stood out in particular. On August 19, COS staff and volunteers collected 546 signatures—the best single-day total since COS first brought its booth to the fair! https://conventionofstates.com/news/iowa-s-fair-spirit-fuels-the-convention-of-states-movement

Last chance! You can find members of the COS team in the Varied Industries Building at Booth 264. We invite supporters, friends, and fairgoers of all ages to stop by, meet the team, sign the petition, and learn more about the movement to restore balance in our federal government.

When you visit Booth #264, you can sign the petition, talk with our volunteers, and find out how to get involved in the movement. If you already support Convention of States, bring your friends and family with you and encourage them to sign and learn more. Every conversation helps spread the word.



The Iowa State Fair is a place where tradition and purpose come together. We hope you will make time to visit Convention of States, celebrate the fair, and show your Fair Spirit with us in Des Moines.
