This past Sunday in Houston, something simple and powerful happened.

Under a canopy of oak trees, strangers became neighbors over a shared table.

Together with Westminster United Methodist Church, Gastrochurch, and The Brickyard, we hosted Supper Under the Oaks—an outdoor, locally-sourced, three-course dinner designed for one purpose:

Connection.

Guests sat in groups of six to eight…
Shared a meal…
And leaned into intentional conversation through guided prompts.

No distractions.
No agendas.
Just people, present with each other.

And you could feel it:
• Laughter across tables
• New friendships forming
• Stories being shared that otherwise wouldn’t have been heard

This is what happens when we create space for people to slow down and truly see one another.

The Brickyard made lunch for Houston Children.

This is what community looks like ❤️

In April, we gathered at Westminster United Methodist Church with volunteers of all ages to build lunches for kids across Houston through Kids' Meals, Inc. and the No Hungry Kid Houston program.

From packing lunches to decorating bags with messages of encouragement…
From kids helping at the tables to neighbors connecting on the steps…
From sharing laughs on the sidewalk to building something meaningful together…

Every moment mattered.

Because every lunch we made is going to a child who needs it—and every decorated bag is a reminder that someone cares.

And every person who showed up helped build something bigger than the event itself—a stronger, more connected community.

That’s what the Brickyard is all about.
