Yesterday, Youth Wellness Zone students welcomed representatives from the United States Conference of Mayors, the American Beverage Association, and City of Spokane Mayor's Lisa Brown to On Track Academy to talk about youth wellness and the priorities young people are seeing in their communities.

Students shared their perspectives on safe spaces, mental health, transportation safety, and creating places where youth can feel welcome and be themselves. They also led visitors through the Schoolyard Forest to share how the space supports them.

The visit celebrated the many ways the U.S. Conference of Mayors and American Beverage Association’s Healthy and Sustainable Communities grant is supporting the Youth Wellness Zone and creating more opportunities for youth voice.

Join us at the Northeast Community Center on Wednesday, September 30, from 11 AM–1 PM for Second Harvest Inland Northwest’s Mobile Market. This drive-thru event is open to the community, with no appointment or documentation required. Food is available while supplies last.

Our Wildfire Relief Distribution was a true community effort.
Together, we served 600+ people and distributed around 75,000 items, along with:
🦷 42 dental exams
👓 195 vision screenings
🥫 450 bags of food
🤝 28 individuals and families connected with The ZONE for ongoing support

Thank you to Coordinated Care, Second Harvest Inland Northwest, Unity In the Community, Eastern Washington University, City of Cheney, Cheney Police Department, Thrive International, Mission Community Outreach Center, KREM 2 News’s Tools 2 Schools (facilitated by Communities In Schools of Northeast Washington), and all of the community members who showed up to support families affected by this summer’s wildfires.

Together, we served 600+ people and distributed around 75,000 items, along with:

Free dental and vision screenings from Coordinated Care's statewide healthcare tour, plus food, hygiene items, clothing, and school supplies through a Wildfire Relief Distribution — this Friday, Aug. 28, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. at Northeast Community Center. Everyone is welcome, no appointment needed. Please share with anyone who might need it!

More than 400 ZONE neighbors joined us for an afternoon of school supplies, literacy activities, books, haircuts, food, music, and fun — seeing families connect and kids getting excited about school and reading was amazing!
There was something for everyone. Thank you to ALL of our partners and neighbors who supported ZONE students starting a fresh school year.

Fresh cut, fresh start! ✂️
At this year's Back to School Fair, kids can get a FREE haircut — first come, first served!
Haircuts are simple trims to start the year fresh, no fades or fancy styles. There'll be a sign-in sheet when you arrive to hold your spot in line, so come early!
Please note: children must be present to receive a haircut and school supplies.
