When housing costs too much, families have to give up other things.

A new Habitat for Humanity report found that 75% of people surveyed cut back on basic needs to pay for housing. One in three spent less on food, and 13% delayed medical care.

At VCW, we help make homeownership more affordable through quality manufactured homes sold at cost. Lower housing costs can leave families with more room for food, savings, health care and other needs.

Affordable housing means more than a home. It means more room to live.

At VCW, we know that long-term affordability is about more than the purchase price. Keeping energy costs down can help make monthly homeownership expenses more manageable over time. That’s why we’re sharing this opportunity from SNAP, McKinstry and Avista Utilities to provide 1,000 FREE energy-saving kits to Spokane-area households. 🎁 Kits are available Thursday, Oct. 22, while supplies last!

We’re proud to be part of a network of Spokane organizations investing in community leadership.

This summer, VCW leaders joined the IAF Pacific Regional Organizing Training to strengthen our organizing skills, build relationships, and learn how to bring people together around issues that matter.

We’re grateful to bring these lessons back to our work in Spokane. 💚

Spokane Alliance member organizations don't just work for their communities. They invest in the people who lead them.

This summer, leaders from eleven member organizations participated in the IAF Pacific Regional Organizing Training, an intensive five day training in broad based community organizing. Together, they strengthened their organizing skills, deepened their understanding of how change happens, and built relationships with leaders from across the Pacific region.

The lessons don't stay in the classroom. Leaders bring these skills back to their congregations, unions, nonprofits, and community organizations, where they strengthen relationships, develop new leaders, and work alongside others to address issues affecting our communities.

Over the coming weeks, we'll introduce the member organizations that invested in this training and the leaders who are helping build a stronger Spokane.
