Grassroots Leadership Development Institute - GLDI

Grassroots Leadership Development Institute - GLDI GLDI is a leadership development initiative of the Spartanburg County Foundation.

The Spartanburg County Foundation’s Grassroots Leadership Development Institute is a seven-month leadership development program designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to lead change effectively throughout the greater Spartanburg County community and beyond. Celebrating over 20 years of providing leadership training and resources, GLDI has graduated more

than 500 individuals who are serving the community in various leadership capacities. The Institute has become a nationally recognized best practice model, continuing to garner interest from groups throughout the country. GLDI Objectives
Individuals participate in monthly workshops from April to October, which help them understand community issues and develop leadership and organizational skills by exploring topics such as strategic thinking and planning, leveraging community assets and resources, networking and building partnerships, and advocacy, public speaking, and other communication skills. This training allows grassroots leaders to see how they fit into a larger picture—county, state, and national—and how they can affect change on multiple levels.

What an incredible time of fellowship, learning, and growth! Yesterday, 33 Grassroots Leadership Development Institute Alumni gathered together for a special Leadership Lunch and Learn - Learning from Your Peers. Thank you to our amazing panelists - Alumni Wanda Cheeksallday, Reggie Jeter, Cord Collin Sgaglio, Robert Cheeks, and Kim Underwood Moultrie, and a special thanks to Kim for facilitating the discussion! We discussed neighborhood engagement, safety, community planning, and youth development, with each panelist sharing some of the national trends in these areas and how they are adopting these best practices into their own spaces where they lead.
