WE NEED VOLUNTEER DRIVERS!!!
We have an Amish team of builders deployed to Spartanburg County from October 26–April 1, rebuilding and repairing homes destroyed and/or damaged by Hurricane Helene (there is a Christmas Break).
Mennonite Disaster Services is providing the 3 trucks with equipment trailers and passenger vans for the Amish teams. However, since they rebuilt 3 homes for us this past winter/spring, they have volunteers assigned elsewhere.
We have a ton of community groups, churches, etc., in this county, and right now we have a few volunteers from our Spartanburg County Community Emergency Response Team and Spartanburg Water providing three employees for 4 days of the deployment.
We need volunteers for the 7 a.m. drop-off assignment, where they either take the Amish via passenger van to their job sites from the church or drop a trailer at a job site and return. If you arrive before 7 a.m., you will be provided a free breakfast.
For those who might be interested but can't do 7 a.m., we reverse the process at 4:30 p.m., picking up trailers and the Amish workers and returning them to the church. A free dinner is offered to those who would like to take advantage of it.
At most, you are looking at a 2-hour commitment (probably 1.5 hours) in the morning and the same in the afternoon. If anyone reading this is interested, just fill out the form here: https://forms.gle/LnvBpz2SaWLjJbdb8
We have dozens of people coming from Ohio to repair and build, as volunteers, and we can't find that same number of volunteers in Spartanburg County to just handle a few hours of logistics in the morning or afternoon.
