What do you get when a woman, a priest, two ministers, and a rabbi walk into a bar?

United Way! 😂

Okay, it wasn’t actually a bar, but it’s a true story. On October 16, 1887, Frances Wisebart Jacobs, Father William O’Ryan, Reverend Myron Reed, Dean H. Martyn Hart, and Rabbi William Friedman came together in Denver, Colorado, to form the Charity Organization Society. Their idea was simple: neighbors are stronger when they work together to care for one another.

That idea grew into what we now know as United Way, and today marks 139 years.

We’re ever so grateful for the foundation they laid and encouraged for the future we’re building together right here in Moore County. Here’s to the next 139! ❤️💛💙🧡
