June 6th is Visually Impaired People Day. 👁

This day celebrates the resilience, achievements, and potential of blind and visually impaired individuals while promoting inclusion, accessibility, and independence.

It’s important to note that vision loss does not define a child’s future. With the right tools, support, and opportunities, blind and visually impaired children can learn to play, travel, pursue their goals, and navigate the world with confidence.

For many children, a guide dog can be a life-changing tool, allowing for greater mobility, independence, and freedom.

At Mira USA, we are proud to provide these guide dogs to blind American children ages 11 through 17, free of charge, helping them build confidence and embrace new possibilities. 🦮

🎨 What an incredible evening at our Heart Your Pet fundraiser with Wine & Design Southern Pines!

We are thrilled to share that the event raised $1,000 for Mira USA to help support our mission of providing guide dogs to blind American children ages 11 through 17, free of charge.

🐾 Guests spent the afternoon painting heart-shaped portraits of their beloved pets, enjoying delicious food, sharing stories, and connecting with fellow animal lovers. From fresh snacks and drinks to Jackie’s homemade cookies, every detail helped make the afternoon feel warm, welcoming, and full of community spirit.

A very special thank you to Jamie for hosting this wonderful event. We believe Jamie personally hand-sketched each pet portrait before the event, and we are incredibly grateful for the time, talent, and care that helped make the afternoon such a success.

We would also like to thank everyone who attended, donated, painted, and cheered us on when our paintings may not have looked exactly like we’d imagined 😄.

If you’re looking for proof that inclusive community events can be both incredibly meaningful AND ridiculously fun for everyone… this was it. ❤️

Yesterday, we drove to Greensboro, North Carolina, to attend the UNITE Greensboro Festival at LeBauer Park, hosted by the Family Support Network of Central Carolina, and we had the BEST time. ☀️🌳

What made this event so special was that it truly felt like an event for the entire community, not just families directly impacted by disabilities. Any family could have shown up and had an incredible afternoon together filled with fun, education, connection, and support.

There was seriously something around every corner, baby goats 🐐, Disney princesses 👑, inflatable sharks running around the park 🦈, drum circles 🥁, child-friendly Zumba 💃, storytellers 📚, adaptive sports like para fencing, and so many hands-on activities and educational opportunities for families.

We also loved seeing organizations from all across North Carolina coming together to share resources, services, and support available throughout our communities. It was such a beautiful atmosphere full of kindness, inclusion, and joy. ✨

We were especially grateful for the opportunity to represent MIRA USA and share our mission of providing guide dogs to blind American children ages 11 through 17, free of charge, while also helping educate others a little more about who we are and what we do.

Thank you so much to the Family Support Network of Central Carolina for having us. Everyone we met was so lovely and welcoming, and we truly hope to see everyone again next year. 🖤

Join us for our upcoming Paint Your Pet Night benefiting MIRA USA at Wine & Design.

Bring your favorite furry friend to life on canvas while enjoying a fun and relaxing afternoon of painting, creativity, and community, all while supporting an incredible cause. A portion of the proceeds will help MIRA USA provide guide dogs to blind American children ages 11–17, free of charge.
