🇺🇸 A Special Thank You to Trent Mauck

As we celebrate another great AZ VGA event, we also want to recognize Trent Mauck as he prepares to leave Arizona.

Trent, thank you for everything you have done for the Arizona VGA—for the time you’ve given, the events you’ve supported, and especially the friendships and camaraderie you’ve helped build along the way. Your contributions have made a difference, and your presence will absolutely be missed.

One of the best things about the VGA is that the relationships we build extend far beyond a single golf course or state. So this definitely isn’t goodbye.

It’s simply… until next time. 🇺🇸⛳

Safe travels and best wishes on your next adventure, Trent. You’ll always have friends and a tee box waiting for you here in Arizona!

Thank you from your AZ VGA family. ❤️🤍💙

⛳ BUCKET LIST COURSE — CHECK! 🇺🇸

What a day for AZ VGA at Troon North!

Today we took on the incredible Troon North Pinnacle Course, and it definitely lived up to its reputation. Beautiful, extremely challenging, and a course that made us earn every good shot!

We also made a very generous donation of golf balls to the Arizona desert. 😂🌵 If anyone finds them, consider them our contribution to keeping Troon North fully stocked.

But this is what VGA golf is all about—Veterans, Combat Wounded & Families coming together, tackling an amazing course, and making memories along the way.

✅ Troon North — bucket-list course officially on the books!

Thank you to everyone who came out today. Great turnout, great people, incredible views, and one we won’t soon forget.

🏌️‍♂️ NEXT STOP: THE RAVEN! 🐦‍⬛⛳
Time to reload the golf bags with a fresh supply of balls. 😂

Stonecreek is in the books ✅ and TODAY we take on TROON NORTH! 🌵🔥

What a way to start the 2027 Arizona VGA season. Today our players tee it up at Troon North Golf Club, one of Arizona’s true bucket-list golf destinations—and this is only stop #2!

Take a look at what’s still ahead. 👀 We’re headed across Arizona from Phoenix and Scottsdale to Gilbert, Sierra Vista, Tucson, Oro Valley and Goodyear, with plenty of great golf and VGA camaraderie along the way.

🏆 And ultimately, it all leads to the Arizona State Championship in July!

For everyone playing today at Troon North: have fun, play well, enjoy the views, and maybe bring a few extra golf balls. 😂🌵⛳

⛳🌵 A bucket list course. An incredible VGA family. One unforgettable Sunday ahead!

AZ VGA is heading to Troon North’s Pinnacle Course in Scottsdale on September 13! With a design legacy tied to golf legend Tom Weiskopf, this is a course where the scenery is part of the experience—dramatic granite boulders, rugged Sonoran Desert terrain, and fairways winding around the northern slopes of Pinnacle Peak.

Bring your game—and your camera! We’re looking forward to memorable shots, friendly competition, and the camaraderie that makes every AZ VGA event special. 🇺🇸

⛳ Arizona VGA Rule of the Week: Red Penalty Area Relief

Your bunker shot flies across the green and enters a red penalty area on the other side. Where can you take relief?

For one penalty stroke, you have three options:

⛳️Back-on-the-line relief: Drop outside the penalty area on the line extending from the hole through the point where the ball last crossed the red edge.

⛳️Stroke-and-distance relief: Return to the location of your previous stroke. In this example, that means dropping back in the bunker.

⛳️Lateral relief: Drop within two club-lengths of the last crossing point, outside the same penalty area and no nearer the hole.

Remember: two club-lengths does not mean you can automatically drop anywhere beside the water. The drop must satisfy every part of Rule 17.1d. In the visual, only the shaded green slice is a legal lateral relief area.

Always follow any designated drop-zone or Local Rule posted by the Committee.
