Southeastern Directions For Life Our mission is to empower people to discover their directions for life in a changing world.

Southeastern Behavioral HealthCare, a private, non-profit agency has emphasized the importance of emotional wellness – not only for individuals but also for entire communities. Since 1952, Southeastern has been serving the four county area of Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha, and Turner counties. Southeastern is one of 11 Community Mental Health Centers in South Dakota dedicated to providing quality services to keep our individuals, families, and communities emotionally strong and healthy. Today, Southeastern serves more than 5,000 children, adults and families each year. NOTICE TO CONSUMERS:
Southeastern serves all individuals regardless of ability to pay. A sliding fee scale for services is offered based on family size and income.

For roughly 20 years, the Sioux Falls School District and Southeastern Directions for Life have partnered to make mental health support more accessible for students.

Through this partnership, Southeastern counselors meet with students right in their schools, from elementary through high school removing any barriers to access for mental health services. Having access to mental health counselors blends educational and clinical expertise to support student wellbeing, improve school climate, and address both immediate crises and long-term developmental needs.

We are so grateful for this partnership and everything SFSD does to support students and families in our community!
