RHD Celebrates National Nurses Week

During National Nurses Week, RHD proudly recognizes the extraordinary dedication, compassion, and clinical excellence of our nursing professionals. From supporting health and well-being to advancing dignity and person-centered care, our nurses make a meaningful impact every day in the lives of the individuals and communities we serve.

The RHD Pop-Up Shop has quickly become a favorite amongst our day service participants. Participants look forward to collecting points through volunteering each week in the community. Points saved can be exchanged for Pop Up Shop Bucks; which are then used to practice budgeting and money awareness skills to pick out items of their choice from the shop. The participant chosen as the “Top Volunteer of the Month” gets the honor of greeting, directing, and showing off the items to the shoppers to help them make their choices.
We are so thankful for all the donated items that have been received thus far! If anyone would like to donate any new or gently used items for the Pop-Up Shop, please drop them off at our office located at 2200 S Minnesota Ave in Sioux Falls.

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is a reminder that every individual deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, purpose, and self-worth, on their own terms, with full inclusion in their community. At RHD, that is the work we show up for every day. And we categorically reject the notion that a diagnosis, such as a learning disability, defines a person’s potential. Together, we are better when we listen, support, advocate, and build systems that recognize the strengths and possibilities in every individual we serve.

🌟 RHD SD Shared Living – West Region Highlights! 🌟

Our Shared Living community has been staying active, connected, and involved across the West Region — and we couldn’t be more proud!

🏀 Special Olympics Basketball
We had an incredible time supporting athletes on the court! From practicing shots to cheering from the sidelines, the energy and teamwork were amazing to see.

🤠 Stock Show Special Rodeo
What a fantastic experience at this year’s Special Rodeo! Our participants and providers had a great time being part of such a fun and welcoming event.

We love seeing the joy, growth, and community involvement happening across the West Region.

🥶❄️ Rapid City Polar Plunge – Black Hills ❄️🥶

We’re a little overdue sharing these, but we couldn’t let the fun go undocumented! What an incredible time at the Rapid City Polar Plunge last weekend in the Black Hills area!
Cassidy Jones, one of our providers, braved the icy waters alongside David Tanner (rocking the gold wig 🎸) and her son, Tucker Jones. The 80’s rock vibes were strong and the team spirit was even stronger!
We also had a special mother-daughter plunge moment — dressed as Elsa & Olaf — proving that a little cold never bothered us anyway! ☃️💙
Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and cheered on the brave plungers. Events like this remind us how special our Black Hills community truly is. We’re already looking forward to next year!
