In April of 2025 my amazing team lead Dani came up with the idea of an Easter egg hunt with points in the eggs that our individuals could cash in and shop the Hop Shop.

After the excitement we witnessed from the people we support I decided to turn this into a pop up shop where our individuals could shop with points earned for the volunteering RHD does within our community.

As we witnessed more success the pop up shop continued to level up and progress into so much more.
Now we have a standing on site RHD shop where our individuals cash in their points earned from all the NEW and original volunteering opportunities.

We also acknowledge the Top volunteer of the month nominated by staff and winner selected by staff.
The Top Volunteer receives an award, they get to shop first and they receive 25 points to the pop up shop for the next month.

Our RHD shop is 100% funded by donations from myself, my team as well as community donations.

We also utilize the RHD Shop to teach basic budgeting skills and encourage our individuals to save up for things they really want.

At RHD we are all about encouraging the people we support through offering many volunteering opportunities, teaching coping skills, advocating for themselves and peer to peer engagement with appropriate communication and social skills. I am so proud of how much progress we have made with our Day Service program and all the new and exciting things to come

Our Day service program in Sioux Falls loves to sprinkle in spirit week throughout the year. Always a good time. There is always time to have fun with our individuals, it’s not all about volunteering, it’s about community, togetherness and being there for the people we support as well as each other.

The First Ever FallOween dance at our RHD Day Service in Sioux Falls was a success! It was so heartwarming to witness the people we support having fun, dancing and engaging with our staff and their peers. A huge Thank you goes out to Lisa Myhre from Dance Ballroom and studio who joined us and taught us the Thriller dance. We appreciate all the SLPs/Guardian’s and parents who joined us as well. More fun to come! More photos and video from the dance will be posted next. At RHD we strive to create meaningful days one adventure at a time.

Meet Jamie!! Every year in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month; Jamie makes and donates pens for the patients receiving treatment at the Hemsley Center in Pierre SD. 🩷💕🩷💕
