The annual Social Security cost-of-living adjustment helps millions of older adults keep up with rising costs and make ends meet.

AARP is committed to protecting Social Security from cuts and privatization and will never stop fighting against efforts that threaten the financial security Americans have earned through a lifetime of hard work.

Social Security beneficiaries will receive a 3.6% increase in their monthly payments in 2027.

AARP staunchly opposes calls to reduce or cap the COLA, which have grown as congressional debate intensifies over how to address Social Security's funding shortfall. With many older Americans struggling with rising costs, AARP will never stop fighting to protect Social Security from cuts or privatization.
