The Foster Network The Foster Network will empower and support families with children placed by a licensing agency. We provide essential resources for children in foster care.

Since our organization began in 2012, The Foster Network has supported local foster families in Sioux Falls, SD, and the surrounding area. This includes access to support groups, events, scholarship opportunities, bedroom furniture access, and The Closet, where foster families can receive clothing, supplies, and toys for the children they are fostering. We aim to ensure families have reliable and safe access to the necessary resources to create happy and loving homes. ❄️ Wish List Wednesday: Winter Gear! ❄️

Every child deserves to enjoy recess, play in the snow, and spend time outside with their friends. Unfortunately, some children miss out on outdoor recess when they don't have the proper winter gear.

We want to help make sure as many kids as possible are bundled up and ready for winter!

This week's wish list includes:
• Snow Boots
• Snow Pants
• Winter Coats
• Hats
• Gloves

Our greatest needs are snow pants and snow boots in children's sizes 2T–14/16 (or equivalent shoe sizes). While we receive coats, hats, and gloves more frequently, snow pants and boots are consistently in short supply.

💡 Before you shop, check your closets! Did your kids outgrow their winter gear since last season? Those snow pants or boots that fit perfectly last winter might be just what another child needs this year!

We're looking for new or like-new items with enough life left for another winter. New purchases are always appreciated, too!

Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the Indigenous peoples who have called this land home for generations and recognize the vibrant cultures, traditions, and communities that continue to thrive today.

Here in South Dakota, we are reminded of the deep history and lasting contributions of the Indigenous nations whose stories, voices, and traditions remain an essential part of our state.

Last year, thanks to the generosity of our incredible community, The Foster Network helped bring Christmas joy to nearly 800 children! This year, we’re inviting you to help make the season just as special for children and families impacted by foster care, trauma, or crisis.

There are several meaningful ways to get involved:

🎄 Host a Give Joy Tree: Display a tree at your business or organization with gift tags featuring specific Christmas wishes.

🎁 Sponsor a Family: Help fulfill the Christmas wish lists of children in one or two families.

🙌 Volunteer: Give your time individually or as part of a group to help make Give Joy This Christmas possible.

❤️ Become a Financial Sponsor: Support the program through sponsorship opportunities ranging from $250 to $5,000.

Kids supporting kids. There's something pretty special about that! 🩵

The youth of First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Falls recently made and donated a dozen soft, cozy tie blankets for the children we serve!

These handmade blankets will be tucked into welcome backpacks given to children entering a new foster home. During a time filled with uncertainty and big emotions, something as simple as a warm, cozy blanket can offer a little extra comfort and a sense of security.

A heartfelt thank you to these wonderful young people for putting so much care into each blanket! We're grateful for everyone who shares their time and talents to help children in our community feel loved and supported.

A generous gift from Sioux Falls Kiwanis! 🩵

We're grateful to Sioux Falls Kiwanis for awarding The Foster Network a $2,000 grant through the Kiwanis Helps Kids Fund!

As we turn the calendar to October, we’re looking back on an incredible evening of generosity at our High Stakes & Big Hearts Casino Night!

Thanks to our amazing sponsors, guests, donors and volunteers, nearly $40,000 was raised to support The Foster Network! 🎉

This week, we're asking for NEW packs of underwear to help us replenish the Welcome Bags we provide when children visit The Closet for the first time.

These bags help make sure children have some of the everyday essentials they need right from the start, and we could use your help restocking these sizes:

Boys: 4/5, 6/7, 8/10, 10/12, 12/14
Girls: 2T/3T, 5/6, 7/8

We're currently OUT of boys' size 4/5, making that our most immediate need.

Please donate NEW packs only. Packs containing about a week's worth are especially helpful!

What started as one family’s idea to raise money for the cancer institute has now become a yearly tradition. All it took was a large number of pumpkins, grown in Saint Lawrence and sold in Sioux Falls.
