What a wonderful week! Our Redeemer Lutheran Church started the week bringing the fun! They brought so much wonderful food to be put in the lunches and truly inspiring notes. Next Sioux Rise Lions Club, Sioux Falls SD came and had a splendid time working together to make a difference in our community! Thank you to both groups- with you and all of our volunteers we are grateful for the impact Lunch Is Served, Inc. is making in Sioux Falls!

Thanks to this group of construction finance professionals of CFMA of Siouxland for coming together every August to pack lunches for the working people of Sioux Falls which includes employees of theirs that are working on the many construction projects going on in our great city! A great day of giving back, learning and seeing firsthand how Sioux Falls continues to grow!

Last week, our Director of Estimating joined CFMA of Siouxland for a day focused on community and construction.

The day started at Lunch Is Served, Inc., where we rolled up our sleeves and helped pack lunches for people in our community. This organization does some incredible work and is always looking for volunteers and donations. If you’re looking for a simple way to make a difference locally, we encourage you to check them out!

Afterward, we had the opportunity to get an inside look at two major projects taking shape in Sioux Falls.

🏗️ Thank you to Henry Carlson Construction, LLC for showing us around the new LifeScape campus.

Days like this are a great reminder of what makes our community special. Local organizations giving back, local companies building for the future, and people working together to make Sioux Falls stronger.

So many wonderful groups!! We are having a blast this summer packing lunches, stamping bags and writing inspiring messages! Linwood Wesleyan Church, Bowling Volunteer Group, LSS Mentoring Services, and Hope Lutheran Church all had a great volunteer experience. We love our volunteers!💕💕

Hope you’re having a terrific Tuesday! We had two awesome groups in the last couple of days. Last Wednesday a group came and they brought their grandchildren. Kids love Lunch Is Served! They get what it means to have a lunch and all kids want to help! Last night was our good friends Linwood Wesleyan Church- they always bring a fun loving group. Look for my newsletter that will be coming out later this week!

As I have said many times the very best thing about Lunch Is Served are the people! Last Wednesday a group of Lunch Is Served friends packed lunches and last night Central Church volunteered. Each of these groups have a long time friendship with us! I am a better person for knowing all of these people. Thank you for your continued support! We are looking for groups to fill a few packing dates for the rest of the year. Contact me if you are interested 😎

We are so sad from this news as Eric Thomas just presented Lunch Is Served with a check at the game on Tuesday night. What a legacy and that one of his last acts was donating money to help the working poor of Sioux Falls. Thank you, Dr. Thomas! To all the women on the team who volunteered to pack lunches, we are thinking of you.

Eric was many things–a leader, a dreamer, a mentor, and a very dear friend. He also never missed an opportunity for a good dad joke. In fact, he often referred to JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Ci**rs as “our office”, which feels especially fitting today.

A Celebration of Eric’s Life will be held:

We invite all friends, supporters, and members of our City family to join us. If you are able, please bring a favorite photo of Eric and a letter sharing what he or City means to you. These memories and stories will become a gift to his family on the difficult days ahead, when they miss his laugh, his wisdom, and his unwavering optimism and belief in people.

In lieu of flowers, Eric’s family has requested that donations be made to the Sioux Falls City FC Foundation. The Foundation continues the work that mattered so much to him–helping women pursue their soccer dreams, whether as players, coaches, referees, or leaders in the game.
