Online Police Reporting: A Neighbor-Friendly Guide
The is a convenient way to report certain non-emergency incidents that have already happened without needing an officer to come to your location.
The report still goes to the Sioux Falls Police Department and is reviewed.
🚨 Call 911 when: Someone is in immediate danger, a crime is happening right now, someone is seriously hurt, or you need police/fire/ambulance help immediately.
📞 Call 605-367-7000 when: The situation is not an emergency, but it involves something that cannot be reported online. Examples include a car accident, stolen firearm, stolen medication, or a stolen car, trailer, ATV/UTV, or other vehicle with a VIN or license plate.
💻 Use the online report when: The incident happened inside Sioux Falls city limits, is not happening right now, and falls into one of the City's approved categories. You must also be 18 or older and have a valid email address.

Sioux Falls Police will review the report.
Police may contact you if they need additional information.
If you later have more information to add, you can call 605-367-7234, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and ask for the detective assigned to the report.
