🚴‍♀️ 🌍
Wishing Anna Pfaffeneder the best of luck as she embarks on her ambitious 1,100 km bike ride from Krummnußbaum to Rome, raising funds for school meals in Malawi! 🍲 Anna, we hope you have tailwinds the whole way, and that you’re treated with as much kindness and generosity as our founder when she did her 5,000 mile ride across the U.S. 💚

We’re deeply disappointed with President Trump’s executive order to suspend funding to USAID - US Agency for International Development. In Malawi, this decision could cause serious harm in the education and healthcare sectors, not to mention contribute to already out-of-control inflation. In the words of one of our former Scholars, “His decisions are punishing Africans. What Trump is doing is destructing."

Earlier this year, we announced an ambitious goal: to create a scholarship for a Malawian student to attend community college in the United States. After much deliberation, we have decided to press pause on this project.

We knew an undertaking of this scope would be a challenge. Unfortunately, the incoming Trump administration’s immigration policies will likely make it impossible. This is not to cast aspersions on anyone’s political beliefs; it is simply an acknowledgement that the timing isn’t right.

We will still be funding our Scholars as they pursue diplomas and degrees at Malawian universities. We are so proud of their hard work.

Some schools and international students in the U.S. worry about what's to come in the incoming Trump administration. Meanwhile, a new report finds more international students in the U.S. than ever.

The Represent Foundation Board of Directors are scattered across North America. Our Board meetings are a careful coordination of time zones, Google Meet invites, and our ongoing WhatsApp group chat.

But when our founder, Brooke, was traveling to New England earlier this year, she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit our Board Chair, Tawonga, at Ohio State, where she’s earning an M.S. in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science. Technology has the amazing capacity to connect us over great distances, but nothing beats hanging out in person, sharing conversation and Malawian snacks (soursop melon and Eet-Sum-Mor biscuits).
