Bengal cat beauty those big green eyes just suck you in.
There’s so much more than the horses at605 Roots. 🤎

We’ve been blessed with so many precious animals — alpacas, barn cats, chickens, ducks, and everything in between.

I sometimes catch myself trying so hard to capture the moment because everywhere I look feels picture-perfect. But then I’m reminded that maybe I don’t need to capture every moment… maybe I just need to be in it.

Watching the animals play, listening to the sounds around us, and simply observing their playful nature has a way of bringing us right back to the present.

Sometimes that’s the therapy — slowing down long enough to notice the life happening right in front of you.

HOPE CHANGES YOUR BRAINHope doesn’t mean denying what is hard.
Hope tells your brain, “There is still a future. There is still another possibility. Keep looking for a way forward.”

When we live only in fear, our brain becomes focused on threat and survival. But hope, positive expectation, connection, and purpose engage systems in the brain connected to motivation, planning, reward, and resilience.

Working with Kids with trauma with anxiety, ADHD it could be hard sending your kids back into big social settings but surrendering them over with confidence and allowing the Lord to work, is one of the most rewarding things we can do when they mess up we meet them with Grace with kindness with firm boundaries helping their brain to grow emotional resilience is something we need to work hard in helping them build and allowing our kids to build that means failing and being there for them when they do.

Lord, help them not simply fit in—help them become who You created them to be.
Amen.

1. A Prayer for Wisdom & Discernment

Heavenly Father, as our children step back into school, go before them into every classroom, hallway, friendship, and decision. Fill them with wisdom that goes deeper than book knowledge. Help them recognize Your voice, discern what is right, and have the courage to make choices that honor You.

When the world gets loud, remind them of what is true. Lead them, guide them, and help them walk confidently in Your ways.
Amen.

2. A Prayer for Identity & Confidence

Father, remind our children who they are and whose they are.

When they are tempted to compare themselves to others, remind them they were never created to be like everyone else. You made them intentionally, uniquely, and with purpose.

Help them live from their true identity rather than chasing approval, popularity, achievement, or validation. When they wonder if they are enough, remind them:

You are loved.
You are chosen.
You are created with purpose.
You are never alone.

May their confidence come from knowing they belong to You.
Amen.

3. A Prayer for Kindness, Purpose & Influence

Lord, let our children’s lives bear good fruit.

May they be the one who notices the child sitting alone. The one who chooses kindness when it would be easier to follow the crowd. The one who encourages, includes, stands up for what is right, and carries Your light wherever they go.

Help them use the gifts and talents You have placed inside them. Teach them that their lives have impact and that even the smallest act of love can make a difference.

May they leave people better than they found them.
Amen.

4. A Prayer for Strength & Resilience

Heavenly Father, strengthen our children for the moments we cannot protect them from.

When school feels hard, give them perseverance. When they make mistakes, remind them that failure does not define them. When someone hurts their feelings, be near. When they feel left out, remind them they are chosen.

Give them courage to be different, wisdom to know when to speak and when to walk away, and strength to do what is right even when it costs them something.

Help them live from abundance instead of scarcity—knowing there is enough love, enough opportunity, enough belonging, and enough grace.

Amen.

5. A Prayer for Us Mamas as We Let Them Go

Father, as we send our children back into the world, work in our hearts too.

When we want to control, teach us to trust. When worry begins to take over, bring us back to what is true:

These children were Yours before they were ever ours.

We cannot walk every hallway with them. We cannot choose every friendship or protect them from every disappointment. But You can go where we cannot go.

So we place them back into Your loving hands.

May this school year be more than grades, sports, accomplishments, and awards. May it be a year of becoming—a year of courage, kindness, growth, deep friendships, and discovering who You created them to be.

May Your presence surround them, Your wisdom guide them, Your protection cover them, and Your love anchor them every single day.Amen

We love this sweet girl SO much. 🤎

Petunia is basically a dog in a horse’s body — she wants to know what you’re doing, be right where the people are, and soak up every bit of attention she can get.

But don’t let that tiny body fool you. 😂 If she’s got the brakes on and you keep tapping on that b***y… girlfriend can still throw a pretty impressive double-barrel kick your direction!

Tonight was one of those simple, beautiful nights — transplanting flowers, working around the farm, and having Petunia right there in the middle of it all.

She’s doing so well. She’s curious, sassy, affectionate, and becoming more comfortable with us every day. And somehow, this tiny little horse continues to remind us that some of the sweetest parts of life are found in slowing down, getting our hands dirty, and enjoying exactly what’s right in front of us.

Sweet Petunia, you sure have stolen our hearts. 🌸🐴

have a gift… and it’s probably not the gift you’d expect.

I’m not super smart. I’m not a great reader. I don’t retain information the way some people do.

And maybe that’s been a gift—because I’ve learned not to put my confidence in my own intellectual ability to comprehend the mysteries of God.

Instead, I’ve learned to watch for Him.

To notice the people He brings.
The doors He opens.
The adventures He invites us into.
The moments that could never have been orchestrated by us alone.

Looking around this table last night, I couldn’t help but think: I could not have hand-chosen these people better myself.

Good, salt-of-the-earth people.
People who love adventure.
People willing to live a little on the wild side.
People who believe, dream, show up, and wait with anticipation to see how God is going to move.

And He always does.

What a wonderful night.
What a beautiful reminder that sometimes we don’t have to understand everything God is doing—we just get to trust Him enough to come along for the ride.
Sometimes you just have to drop the reins.

People keep asking us,
“What are you going to do with Petunia?”
we weren’t really sure we didn’t see this coming. We just knew that we would love to be able to give her a Home many times ponies like these can get passed around because they’re high maintenance. But I think we’re already beginning to see the answer. 🤍

Petunia’s story is one so many of us can relate to.

I wish I was taller.
I wish I was skinnier.
I wish I looked like her.
I wish I had what they have.
I wish I could… I wish I could…

We can spend so much of our lives wishing we were somehow different.

But Petunia doesn’t know she’s different.

She doesn’t walk into the barn wishing she were taller or looked like the other horses. She simply shows up full of joy.

Every time you walk into the barn, she nickers. She wants to be near you. She reminds you to slow down, be present, and enjoy what is right in front of you.

She’s already had so many visitors, and everyone leaves smiling.

Yes, she’s tiny.
Yes, she’s adorable.
But more than anything… she loves BIG.

Start scratching her little b***y and that bottom lip gets going, and you can’t help but laugh. 😂

And maybe that’s part of what she’s here to teach us:

Your life doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s to have impact.

You don’t have to look like your family.
You don’t have to fit the mold.
You don’t have to be the biggest, strongest, prettiest, or most impressive one in the room.

605 Roots it isn’t about what we wish we could be.

Sometimes it’s about recognizing what God can Jenny EggersXACTLY who He created us to be.

Sweet Petunia is already making her way in the hearts of 605 Roots family

Possibly the smallest horse in South Dakota…
with one very, very big purpose.

I used to filter so much of life through what was missing, what wasn’t enough, or what might go wrong.

Now I’m learning to filter everything through abundance—and it has changed my gaze, my heart, and what I notice everywhere I look. 🌿

Sometimes abundance isn’t more.
Sometimes it’s simply finally seeing the goodness that was already there.

Abundant August. 💕✨
