At Easterseals DC MD VA, we're proud to prepare children for kindergarten and help their families achieve self-sufficiency through our Head Start programs! As well said by our SVP of Innovation & Program, Larry Bram, “Head Start staff are fantastic people who really care and get good outcomes. We know it works, and we are thrilled the County is shifting more seats to Early Head Start.”

Families in Montgomery County have relied on Head Start for early care and education support for over 60 years. Recent proposed federal changes have brought the program to the forefront of the conversation about accessible child care.

In the September edition of The Sandbox, Children’s Opportunity Alliance Executive Director Kimberly Rusnak examines the history of the Head Start program, unpacks its influence in Montgomery County, and previews the potential impact of the proposed federal changes.
