"Umiak V", (formerly known as "Chinook Post") is a proven West Coast explorer with a remarkable pedigree. Her story is every bit as interesting as the yacht herself. Originally built in 2003 as "Chinook Post" for an experienced yachting couple, she was purpose-designed for their annual adventures to Alaska. Gregory C. Marshall – Naval Architect Ltd. drew on the proven seaworthiness of the Canadian Fisheries Patrol Post Class hull series, originally designed by William Garden and built by Philbrook's Boatyard Ltd. in Sidney, British Columbia.
