In the U.S., nearly 90% of women diagnosed with breast cancer are still alive five years out, a stark difference from what happens in Africa and Latin and South America. In some sub-Saharan countries, 70% will die within five years of diagnosis due to delays in detection and treatment, logistical challenges and/or lack of access to cancer care.
