Seattle JazzED Love music? There's a place for you here. JazzED started out with two jazz ensembles that met weekly.

Seattle JazzED is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, which was founded in 2010 by a small group of volunteers and music educators, who wanted kids to get great music education opportunities, regardless of what school they went to or how much money they had. Today over 500 students from 70+ different schools come through the doors every year. Seattle JazzED's year round music programs include big band ensembles, vocal ensembles, special workshops and summer camps. We're known for innovative educational initiatives like the New Works Ensemble, the Girls Ellington Project and Summer Jazz Ambassadors. Sliding scale tuition and free loaner instruments are available for every single program. If you're still not sure where to start, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

Our Black History Month In-School Assemblies bring professional musicians and educators directly to your school for an interactive exploration of jazz as a vital Black American art form. Through live performance, storytelling, musical demonstrations, and student participation, students explore the people, history, creativity, and cultural traditions that shaped jazz. They will also discover how its influence continues throughout American music today.

This assembly is a live, interactive jazz experience for students across the greater Puget Sound region and is only available during the month of February. Space is limited, request an assembly today!

“JazzED is one of the biggest factors as to how I am right now.”

Talli Kimani has been a part of the Seattle JazzED community for 14 years, discovering jazz for the first time in 6th grade. This past summer, he came back home as a music educator intern.

"Jazz is an amazing American art form," he says. "Being able to give back to the students and the community is really important to me."
