The job isn't over, though!

Raise the Roof for Parthia

Parthia is moving, but the work isn’t finished.

On August 18, the historic 1906 tugboat Parthia will make an important move to her new permanent home next to the Olympia Farmers Market.

It’s a major milestone in a remarkable preservation effort, but getting Parthia into place is only part of the job.

Funding is still needed to build the protective roof that will shelter Parthia from the weather and help preserve her for generations to come.

The move gets Parthia home.

We are thrilled to announce that Puget Sound Maritime is the new home of the Foss Maritime Company archives, donated by Saltchuk Marine.

We are just beginning to sort and catalog the collection, but you can get a glimpse of what wonderful history it tells. In the near future, this collection will be made available for maritime history research.

And on this day, June 8th, we want to tip our hat and wish Happy Birthday to Thea Foss, who founded the company with her husband Andrew in 1889. What a marvelous legacy they created for the rest of us.
