Welcome to Season 11, the beginning of a new decade for Emerald City Music!

This season brings seven diverse programs to Seattle & Olympia, including the return of the Evolution Series, a journey through Beethoven’s piano sonatas with pianist Gilles Vonsattel, and an exploration of Shakespeare’s literature through music in collaboration with Animal Fire Theatre.

In addition to our Mainstage programs, ECM brings back Late Night Sessions, Chamber Music Karaoke, offers a brand new lobby concert series in Olympia, and so much more!

Last weekend, Seattle and Olympia experienced Canto Ostinato by Simeon ten Holt, with Erik Hall, Metropolis Ensemble, Sandbox Percussion, and UW School of Music.

Our home at was filled with a quiet warmth and a deep sense of community, as we shared in a 75-minute musical journey. Each person’s attention and commitment to the music was palpable. And as a result, it was truly magical.

We’re grateful to the musicians and partner organizations who helped bring this project to the PNW!

Did you know that blends Western classical forms with musical influences from Bali, Southwest China, and North Vietnam? Her work explores themes of identity and the environment through a distinctly cross-cultural lens.
You can hear this in her Violin Concerto, written for ECM’s Artistic Director Kristin Lee, and (Un)Wandering Souls, composed for ECM’s Ensemble-in-Residence Sandbox Percussion.

Meet the Composers 🎶✨
For our March 6 & 7 performances, ECM presents two co-commissions, and 3 premieres!

Joan Tower, regarded as one of the most important American composers living today, has six-decades career and has shaped orchestral and chamber music of our time. ECM co-commissioned To Sing or Dance for violin and percussion quartet with and , and will present its Seattle/Olympia premiere.

Vivian Fung ( ), a JUNO Award–winning composer, creates bold, large-scale works shaped by multicultural influences. ECM co-commissioned GODDESS//INSECT with and —and this concert marks its World Premiere.

Soprano Mikaela Bennett, who has performed with the LA Phil, SF Symphony, and at the BBC Proms, joins members of for the WORLD PREMIERE of a new song cycle by Molly Joyce, plus Broadway classics and jazz standards from the Great American Songbook.

✨ Late Night Session (Seattle only): The music continues at 10pm with the phenomenal Seattle-based cellist & singer-songwriter Ollella, performing a set of indie-folk originals.
