SNOHOMISH COUNTY RESIDENTS 📢: Tell the County Council to budget money to fully implement the Urban Tree Canopy Policies!

Residents came out in large numbers during the 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update to support the adoption of the Urban Tree Canopy Policies, and the County did the right thing in adopting them. 🌳💕 Now, we need the community’s support once again to convince the County Council that adequate funding is necessary to implement these policies.

On 10/20, the Council is holding public hearings on Snohomish County’s 2027-2029 budget. We can’t wait another 3-5 years to fund full implementation of these policies; we need to budget for them NOW!

This month, the Complete Communities Coalition is teaming up with our friends at Transportation Choices Coalition and Nondrivers Alliance for our happy hour.

If we want to create complete, connected communities, we need to plan for a city that works for everyone – including nondrivers. By shifting some focus away from car dependency to biking, walking, and using public transit, we can create a safer, cleaner, and more accessible city.

Join us tomorrow to share your story, talk transit access, and learn how you can support more funding for Seattle’s bus services.

Hey friends, happy !

I'm Tara, the Seattle Organizer with Futurewise, here to talk about my love for the route 3 bus line.

I take it all the time, mostly to get to and from work. For years there was no bus route on the Bellevue corridor in Cap Hill. But since we got the 3, it has been an absolute godsend for myself and my neighbors.

I'm grateful that I have access to this amazing route, and I also recognize the challenges with a bus that only runs every 30 minutes. For folks who only rely on transit, having such inconsistent schedules only makes their trips longer and more difficult.

ends on October 8th! I hope you can find ways to walk, roll, bike, or bus this week, and share with us what transit means to you ❤️

starts TODAY, and many of us here at Futurewise are participating!

Many of us already live car-light lives, like Futurewise board member Rian! He and his 2-year-old love taking the bus and being able to walk to daycare in Seattle. We want that to be possible for all Washingtonians – regardless of where they live.

That’s why we care about how we plan and build our communities. Transit-oriented development can:
🌱 Reduce carbon emissions and prevent urban sprawl
🏘️ Make it easier to afford to live near jobs, schools, and opportunity
🚌 Give more people the freedom to get where they need to go without relying on car
❤️ Create communities that are more connected, equitable, and safe

Decisions around land use, zoning, and growth shape who gets access to these opportunities.

Hear more from Rian about his experience as a nondriver, and join us for this year’s (Oct. 1-8). Share how your week goes, and tag us.
