The last and final Annual Downtown Volunteer Fair was held on April 26, 2015. Sincere thanks to everyone who supported our efforts to bring the community together and to serve the needs of our poor, hungry, marginalized neighbors and those with special needs. VOLUNTEER TUTORS NEEDED! Mary's Place needs volunteer tutors at all their night shelters, but especially Mary's Place Family Center in north Seattle. Many of the kids from elementary to high school are seeking help with everything from math & reading to studying for the SAT/ACT. Rewarding work!!! In case you didn't see it, here is the front-page article on homelessness that appeared in today's New York Times. It clearly describes the epidemic that is engulfing our nation, including Seattle, which is briefly mentioned. Now the challenge is finding the solution. As the story points out, $100 million is only a drop in the bucket.

The city’s plan will focus on housing and service programs to get an estimated 26,000 homeless people off the streets.
