Harbour Pointe Coffeehouse is pleased to announce the official launch of the "Why Not Us Foundation" (YNU). As the old saying goes: leave things better than you found it. And that is our intention. To leave our community a better place. YNU will be putting together a series of projects in the communities of Seattle, Washington. A little something about us, we want to serve the community, while ser
ving the community. We will provide a focused variety of help to areas in the community that need support. We will foster, thrive, care for, and develop community relationships within these local communities of the Seattle region. We will do this with the upmost respect and standards, all while putting the communities needs first and for most. Mission: The mission of The Why Not Us Foundation, is to foster community by means of helping those challenged in areas that are needed for essential daily living. We strive on leaving the community better than the way we found it. The beginning goal in Seattle is to have a Nonprofit Organization that will partly form as a group and a class or club at area schools. We will put together this group to inspire students how to be more involved in community. The students will have a first look, and hands on experience on how to build an organization from top to bottom while experiencing the set backs and leaps forward that will come with building something new. During this process we will train each student on what it takes to be a professional. How to present oneself, how to put together a clean resume and cover letter, how to prepare for an interview, how to answer certain interview questions. The objective is to have them do more than just build a working single goaled NPO, but to be trained in the know how of life as well. Bridging the gap so to speak. We want them to be employable, professional, and capable members of the community. We also want to being able to teach this course if at all possible, and have a curriculum standard built by the school itself with HPC. That's not the only overall site of the club. There are a lot of intangibles that go with this Non profit. The overall name of the club will be called “Why Not Us” or YNU from the thoughts of something Russell Wilson has installed in the people around Seattle. It is also a question that I’ve asked myself for almost 20 years, why not me? Why not us? With that we want to have the students write two letters each, one that is written to Russell Wilson and in it will explain something the student wants to do, a dream or goal they wish to accomplish-be it today tomorrow or years to come. It could be personal, community or globally focused. The main part needed in the letter is the why not them, we want them to express that. Each letter will be emailed or hand written and sent to us at HPC with full communication being monitored by The Bush School. We will examine and then give back to the student to tuck away in envelopes. When the letters are read we will pick a handful of the best letters and those students will have a chance to me with Russell Wilson at Seattle Children’s Hospital, which is where the second letter comes into play. Each child will write about themselves and what great experiences they have enjoyed over the course of life and also what trials they've endured. We will present these letters to the child at SCH and hopefully have a pin pal related system in place to help those kids understand someone does indeed care about them. That they to can have friendships no matter how hard life gets. This whole process will ultimately lead us to building a stable non-prophet organization and we will use that to do our overall project which is a dedication project we will present to the city of Seattle. It will consist of statue that will built out of art projects and Seattle images and icons. We will have all types artist working in unison-painters, musicians, writers, film makers, ETC. They will all collaborate on the overall project that will be presented to the city of Seattle that will ultimately lead us to do it in a several other cities so you can basically tie communities together which is the ultimate focus of the Why Not Us Foundation. So, why not you, why not us?
