The Why Not Us Foundation

The Why Not Us Foundation A little something about us? Well we want to serve the community, while serving the community. We'll do this with the upmost respect and highest standards.

Harbour Pointe Coffeehouse is pleased to announce the official launch of the "Why Not Us Foundation" (YNU). As the old saying goes: leave things better than you found it. And that is our intention. To leave our community a better place. YNU will be putting together a series of projects in the communities of Seattle, Washington. A little something about us, we want to serve the community, while ser

ving the community. We will provide a focused variety of help to areas in the community that need support. We will foster, thrive, care for, and develop community relationships within these local communities of the Seattle region. We will do this with the upmost respect and standards, all while putting the communities needs first and for most. Mission: The mission of The Why Not Us Foundation, is to foster community by means of helping those challenged in areas that are needed for essential daily living. We strive on leaving the community better than the way we found it. The beginning goal in Seattle is to have a Nonprofit Organization that will partly form as a group and a class or club at area schools. We will put together this group to inspire students how to be more involved in community. The students will have a first look, and hands on experience on how to build an organization from top to bottom while experiencing the set backs and leaps forward that will come with building something new. During this process we will train each student on what it takes to be a professional. How to present oneself, how to put together a clean resume and cover letter, how to prepare for an interview, how to answer certain interview questions. The objective is to have them do more than just build a working single goaled NPO, but to be trained in the know how of life as well. Bridging the gap so to speak. We want them to be employable, professional, and capable members of the community. We also want to being able to teach this course if at all possible, and have a curriculum standard built by the school itself with HPC. That's not the only overall site of the club. There are a lot of intangibles that go with this Non profit. The overall name of the club will be called “Why Not Us” or YNU from the thoughts of something Russell Wilson has installed in the people around Seattle. It is also a question that I’ve asked myself for almost 20 years, why not me? Why not us? With that we want to have the students write two letters each, one that is written to Russell Wilson and in it will explain something the student wants to do, a dream or goal they wish to accomplish-be it today tomorrow or years to come. It could be personal, community or globally focused. The main part needed in the letter is the why not them, we want them to express that. Each letter will be emailed or hand written and sent to us at HPC with full communication being monitored by The Bush School. We will examine and then give back to the student to tuck away in envelopes. When the letters are read we will pick a handful of the best letters and those students will have a chance to me with Russell Wilson at Seattle Children’s Hospital, which is where the second letter comes into play. Each child will write about themselves and what great experiences they have enjoyed over the course of life and also what trials they've endured. We will present these letters to the child at SCH and hopefully have a pin pal related system in place to help those kids understand someone does indeed care about them. That they to can have friendships no matter how hard life gets. This whole process will ultimately lead us to building a stable non-prophet organization and we will use that to do our overall project which is a dedication project we will present to the city of Seattle. It will consist of statue that will built out of art projects and Seattle images and icons. We will have all types artist working in unison-painters, musicians, writers, film makers, ETC. They will all collaborate on the overall project that will be presented to the city of Seattle that will ultimately lead us to do it in a several other cities so you can basically tie communities together which is the ultimate focus of the Why Not Us Foundation. So, why not you, why not us?

Hello Everyone! We've been quietly working behind the scenes for the last 5 years building something absolutely amazing. Our work is finally paying off and we've decided it is time to go public about where we are and what we've been doing. Over the next few weeks we will be posting updates from our past, present and future. Looking forward to having you all on board with us again!

Our work has never stopped, or changed. We just took a step back and rethought what was important for our foundation and the communities in which we work in. In the past 3 years we've fed over 500 families and 3000 people, gifted over 90 bikes to kids for free, built and handed out over 250+ garden boxes complete with dirt, tools and a children's book on gardening written by us. This is only the past three years, and only 2/3 of what we've be able to accomplish. Now we are on to even bigger aspirations and projects. If you want to learn more, head over to our website, which is being completely redesigned and will launch sometime in May. Additionally, we are having a gala! It is an outdoor farm to table dinner and our guest speaker is Ron Finley- The Guerrilla Gardener out of Compton L.A. He has a "Ted Talk" you should watch. Just click the link. It's only 10 minutes, but this guy and this ted talk is the reason we launched this nonprofit!

If you want to attend our Gala, we will be launching ticket sales in the coming weeks. Pay attention for that. Exciting news is ahead. We've missed you all and hope and pray you all are well and happiness is surrounding you. Blessings!

The Why Not Us Foundation has started a campaign to donate money towards cancer research at Fred Hutch and at the Seattle Children's Hospital. We are currently trying to raise awareness so that we can start a movement that will help many in the future. We have started something called The Yellow Challenge. After introducing yourself and explaining what the challenge is for, you film yourself taking a bite of of a full lemon. chewing. and swallowing it. After, you nominate four people to follow in your footsteps and do the same. It is much appreciated if you donate to the cause in addition to completing the challenge. So, after explaining what this entails, go out and attempt the challenge, help raise awareness, and donate some money to fight against cancer that will help thousands.

Layton is a four year old boy currently residing in the Seattle Children's Hospital. We are hosting a campaign to help raise money and awareness on his behalf. The money we make from this campaign will go towards helping pay for his hospital bills and moving forward in his health. It's easy for you to help him through this time. Attached to this post is a link to a Booster page where we are selling hoodies. The money made from this will be donated to Layton. Take a moment to support him with a donation or by buying a hoodie. http://ow.ly/GjgqO

In your hands you hold the chance to help others on a daily basis. Take a moment to be grateful for what you have. Now turn that around and take your thankfulness and give it to someone else so they also have something to be thankful for. Let them be grateful for something you did. The Why Not Us Foundation will aid you in making other's days brighter. Join us in volunteering at the Seattle Children's Hospital as superheroes, complete the Yellow Challenge to raise awareness for cancer research, or donate to the foundation so we can continue to make a difference in the lives around us. Take a moment to think about someone who makes you smile, now go out and be the person someone else thinks about. http://ow.ly/GfA8R
