Together on the Puyallup homelands, we shared an evening rooted in connection and kinship.

Hey Relatives! Please meet our newest staff member 🎉

Samara Almonte | Executive Administrative Assistant | P’urhepecha Descendant de Michoacán 🌿

Samara Almonte is part of the Michoacán diaspora, raised between the lakes and tierra caliente regions of Michoacán and occupied Coast Salish territory, and identifies as a P’urhepecha descendant reconnecting with her ancestors.

She is a multimedia storyteller, community organizer, environmental justice educator, and the producer and creative director of Raíces Verdes (Green Roots). Prior to joining the Na'ah Illahee Fund, Samara worked for King County's Executive Climate Office as their Climate Equity Engagement Project Manager. 💚

What is the Rematriation Celebration all about?

It is a fundraiser, yes, but it is so much more!

It is our annual celebration of the land, art, and stories that make up our incredible community.

It is laughter and games and activities that help you connect with the land and eachother.

It is food and music that celebrate joy, abundance, and laughter.

It is a way for us all to come together and have an afternoon of fun and genuine connection.

This grant supports and honors those who lift up our people through ceremony & healing — such as Smokehouse Lead Workers/Caretakers, Longhouse Lead Speakers/Caretakers, Bundle Keepers, Song Carriers, Sundance Leaders, Sacred To***co Ceremony Leaders, and those who make ceremonial gear such as drums, rattles, regalia, caskets, and other traditional items for ceremony purposes — provided these items are not sold commercially. 🪶

Together, the Na'ah Illahee Fund and Potlatch Fund are pleased to announce the Power of Ceremony & Healing Grant opportunity. This grant is created to honor and uplift our relatives who dedicate their time to healing, ceremony, and traditional work within our communities 🪶

Applicants must be Indigenous, Alaska Native, or First Nation Individuals living and supporting work within the greater Northwest region: Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.

Grants will be awarded to represent the gratitude we share toward traditional leaders, elders, and healers in the varied range of roles and crafts. 🤲

Hey Relatives! We'd like to invite you to join the Seattle Indian Services Commission (SISC) for their Community Art Market - Connecting Through Culture on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 11 am to 4 pm. The art market will be held at the future site of the Native Village & Gateway project. This event is free and open to the public! The market is a chance to check out a new set of murals that celebrate our cultures.
