Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to reflect on the past, embrace cultural identity, and celebrate the enduring spirit of a community that enriches our world every day.

It is also a time to honor the LGBTQIA+ people whose stories, leadership, resistance, and joy are woven into our shared history.

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15) and LGBTQ+ History Month (October), we recognize the Latine LGBTQIA+ people who have helped shape our movements and continue building communities rooted in belonging, resilience, and collective power.

Our histories are connected. Our stories matter. And our communities are stronger when we make space for every voice to be heard.

This month, we celebrate the people who came before us, honor the people carrying the work forward, and continue the work to build our future.

Happy National Coming Out Day!

Coming out can be an act of joy, courage, self-discovery, and connection. It can also be complicated. Not everyone is in a place where coming out feels safe, possible, or right for them, and there is no single way to be LGBTQIA+.

National Coming Out Day is an opportunity to celebrate living openly and authentically while recognizing there are people still finding their way and safe places to be themselves.

At a time when LGBTQIA+ rights, representation, and access to affirming spaces and care are being challenged across the country, visibility matters. So does solidarity.

We will keep building communities where LGBTQIA+ people can live openly, love freely, and know they belong.

There is power in showing up for one another. There is power in community. 🏳️‍🌈

Q***r Power Alliance is proud to announce that we are now serving as the fiscal sponsor for Kinship Collaborative.

Kinship Collaborative is a Seattle-based grassroots organization creating spaces where people can connect, celebrate, heal, and grow together. Through arts, education, wellness, and community, Kinship supports LGBTQIA+ people and their allies in building a more connected and compassionate future. Because everyone deserves a place where they belong.

Join OUTbio Seattle on October 15 for a screening of Heightened Scrutiny, a documentary that follows ACLU attorney Chase Strangio, the first openly transgender person to argue before the U.S. Supreme Court, as he challenges Tennessee's ban on gender-affirming care for trans youth.

The event is being hosted in collaboration with Justice for Girls Coalition. After the screening, stick around for a panel discussion connecting the film to our communities in Washington and highlighting ways to get involved.

Tickets are free. If you’re able, we suggest a nominal donation to No Hate in Washington State to support their efforts to protect the safety, privacy, and well-being of Washington’s young people.

Bring your family and friends. Together, we can support trans youth and help make Washington a safer, more welcoming place to grow up.

Have you moved to Washington State in the last 5 years? Do you identify as LGBTQIA+? We want to hear your story.

Q***r and trans+ people move to Washington for many reasons, and each experience is unique. The Seattle Coalition for Trans Migration is gathering insights from LGBTQIA+ people who are new to the state to better understand their experiences, needs, and challenges.

Your voice matters. Survey responses will help inform advocacy efforts and strengthen the policies, services, and resources that support LGBTQIA+ communities across Washington.
