We acknowledge that Rainier Arts Center is located on the traditional homelands of the Duwamish and Coast Salish peoples, whose relationships with these lands and waters continue today.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day is an opportunity to celebrate Indigenous cultures, histories, creativity, resilience, and living communities—but our recognition cannot begin and end with a single day. Land acknowledgment should be an ongoing practice of learning, respect, relationship-building, and action.

As one way to move beyond acknowledgment, we encourage our community to learn about the Duwamish Tribe’s consider paying rent in solidarity.
