Kin On was born out of a deep need and the generous support the Asian community. We were one of the first Asian language nursing homes in America and have become the inspiration for many since our inception in 1985. More than 30 years later, we continue to expand our offerings in both depth of care and the types of options we provide. Meanwhile, we are preparing for one the greatest influxes of new elders our country has ever seen. Perhaps you or someone you know will be among them? No one knows what the future holds, but our present is quite clear: Those who give; Their time. Their talents make Kin On possible. and will ensure our work for decades to come. As a community supported 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, Kin On relies heavily on our community’s generosity. No matter how big or small, your contributions are vital in enabling Asian elders and disabled adults in the greater Seattle area to receive health and social services tailored to their language, culture and heritage. Healthy Living Program Eastside Community Center Grand Re-Opening 🎉

Yesterday, over 50 guests gathered to celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of our newly expanded and renovated Eastside space!

We honored Dr. I-Jen Chen, founder of the Asian Senior Concerns Foundation (ASCF), which later merged to become Kin On Healthy Living Program Eastside, for his continued dedication as an instructor and supporter. Healthy Living Program members also performed to mark this new chapter. ✨

Thanks to our generous supporters, the event raised over $18,000 to support Eastside Community Center programs and operations. 💛

Kin On Healthy Living Program helps older adults stay physically fit, mentally sharp, and socially engaged through lifelong learning, creative aging programs, and health education seminars. Classes are offered in person (Seattle/Eastside) and online.

☕ A beautiful finale to our Cross-Cultural Community Café!

In the past few months, our 6-session Cross-Cultural Community Café series connected people across cultures while raising dementia awareness in a positive, engaging way, over coffee and tea prepared and served by trained Kin On volunteers. Our final session last Saturday ended with hearts full of gratitude.

People of different backgrounds, generations, and cultures came together to raise awareness of dementia, alongside people living with dementia and their caregivers. Together, we sang and danced to the sound of ukulele music, then shared what we're grateful for by writing on the leaves of our Gratitude Tree. 🍃

The tree will be displayed at Kin On Eastside Community Center as a lasting reminder of this special memory and a perfect close to the series.

None of this would have been possible without our senior volunteers. They trained as baristas, learning about coffee from scratch, and became skilled at serving the best coffee to every guest. Over warm cups and a cozy atmosphere, everyone felt welcome to open up and share their stories. 💛

A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, participants, and caregivers for making all six sessions so meaningful!🥰

Final Session: Kin On Cross-Cultural Community Café — Gratitude & Togetherness 💝

Last month, nearly 90 guests joined our Cross-Cultural Community Café themed Moonlight & Melodies — sharing favorite songs and memories over handmade coffee from our volunteer baristas and hand-crafted moon lanterns.

🎉 A huge thank-you to everyone who made our Seniors' Day a success!

On August 29, over 550 attendees gathered at Bellevue City Hall to mark a decade of connection, culture, and community. Special thanks to Bellevue Mayor Mo Malakoutian for joining us with remarks, and to the Mak Fai Kung Fu Dragon & Lion Dance Association for kicking things off with a spirited lion dance!✨

The day featured:
🏛️ 18 exhibitors sharing local community resources
🎤 10+ performances, including our first-ever band performance from the WA State Letter Carriers, plus dancing, singing, drumming, and tai chi from our Healthy Living members
🎨 5 interactive art activities led by our Healthy Living instructors
📋 3 workshops from East West Bank, Northwest Kidney Centers, and Kin On — covering elder financial fraud prevention, kidney-healthy eating, and aging resources
