📢 ATTENTION: Due to adverse weather conditions this Saturday (rain), the event has been rescheduled to Sunday, June 28, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.

We warmly invite you to join us for an event of healing sound and vocal practices in a singing circle surrounded by nature.

Irons Kovalenko is a member of the legendary Ukrainian band DakhaBrakha, a singer, musician, and bearer of Ukraine’s authentic vocal traditions. Her voice combines the strength of the earth, the depth of traditional folk sound, and the freedom of contemporary music.

In her work, Iryna explores the natural voice, polyphonic singing, embodied sound, and living Ukrainian traditions.

During this Ukrainian workshop, participants will explore:
- Working with the natural voice
- Authentic singing and vocal freedom
- Experiencing the body as a musical instrument - The power of breath, resonance, and vocal depth
- Ukrainian song traditions in a contemporary context

This is a space for living voice, deep sound, and authentic presence—a voice that emerges from the earth, breath, and the memory of generations.

Participation is free (for Ukrainians who have lived in the United States for less than five years) with registration required.

On Saturday, May 16, ReWA’s Cookbook Club brought together over 15 guests to celebrate our community's culture and cuisine. Attendees shared global dishes inspired by the Recipes for Refuge cookbook and talked about how they chose their specific recipes.

Over the meal, guests heard about ReWA's plans for responding to current challenges from Executive Director Kathy Cloutier - and got some insight into our clients & families from program lead Yasmin Mahmoud. Board members Valentina Montecinos and Anne Shukla highlighted ReWA’s vital impact and shared ways to support the mission. It was a delicious success that demonstrated the power of food in building a community of belonging.

The ReWA Center for Social-Emotional Wellbeing (CSEW) team recently participated in the Common Threads event in Seattle at the Allen Family Center, where they connected with community partners, exchanged program insights, and strengthened relationships across organizations supporting healing sewing circles. The gathering highlighted the Common Threads Project’s trauma-informed model that uses story cloth creation as a way for participants to safely share experiences, build connection, and support healing through a blend of traditional practice and therapeutic approaches.

Team members also had the opportunity to engage directly in story cloth creation and learn from facilitators about group practice and care. ReWA looks forward to exploring future partnership opportunities to bring this healing practice to clients.
