Assalamwalaikum Dear Wasat Community,
Alhamdulillah, it has been an honor and blessing to be with you these past two years in
gatherings of sacred healing. Inshallah, as my family grows and responsibilities change, I have
decided to step away from my role at Wasat, this June.
Muslim life in higher education is in a dire state, and my colleagues have requested that I return
to serving college campuses. It has been difficult choosing between the community I love here
and the mission I believe I am best suited to serve. After consulting my teachers, family, and the
whispers of Allah within my soul, I have decided to return to campus life and help develop
prophetic community modeled after what I witnessed at Wasat.
Only Allah’s Mercy can repay the gratitude I hold for having met each one of you. I am
especially grateful to the board, those I’ve served and volunteered alongside, and the many
individuals who welcomed us with radiant warmth and ceaseless grace. You have all been so
generous, and I ask one final favor: your forgiveness. If you are so inclined, please pray for us
and for the community we hold so dear.
There is a plan in place to search for the next Executive Director, and our gatherings at Wasat
will continue uninterrupted, inshallah. More will be shared in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, we hope to make as many memories as possible, have soul stirring
conversations, and celebrate what has been while praying together for what is yet to come. “And
the future will be better for you than what has past” (93:4).
My family and I look forward to spending this remaining time cherishing the blessing that is
Wasat, that is you. I pray that our community continues to be a place celebrated by angels,
uplifting souls toward the heavens, and bringing smiles down from our beloved Prophet ﷺ.
Jazakallah khairan, with love,
Brother Yasin
Thank you Yasin for everything ❤️
