On Wednesday, July 8, we are hosting an info session about the Community Accelerator Grant program at noon. Join us for an overview of the program, its updated eligibility, and an opportunity to get your questions answered by ArtsFund staff. This one-hour webinar will guide interested applicants through the application process, provide insight into eligibility changes for 2026, and highlight updates to this year’s application.

ABOUT
The Community Accelerator Grant, now in its fourth year, provides unrestricted grants to cultural nonprofit organizations across Washington state. A total of $10 million will be distributed. New this year, the program’s eligibility will shift to focus on organizations with annual operating budgets of $1 million or less, recognizing the impact that small- and medium-sized nonprofits have in the sector and that these grants will have an outsized impact on organizations with budgets under $1 million.

Thank you, Sellen Construction, for an incredible 25th employee giving campaign! We are grateful for your continued support that has provided over $1.5 Million to the arts and culture sector. This year, Sellen employees donated $47,705 and with an additional $10,000 donation from the Sellen Community Foundation, their collective impact is $57,705!

The State of the Sector, a white paper written by Michael Greer, President & CEO, of ArtsFund, examines conditions of Washington State's arts and cultural sector from 2019-2025. Drawing on data from 314 organizations across 28 counties, combined with statewide listening sessions, survey responses, and direct engagement with sector leaders, the paper explores current demand for arts and culture, rising costs, and changes to revenue growth.

ArtsFund was proud to be at Americans for the Arts' AFTACON. Michael Greer, President & CEO, joined a panel on governance for the arts of tomorrow. When asked about the role of board members, Michael noted that what's key is having "a set of advisors to help us answer the questions we're asking and being able to get us to solutions." It was great to be in Albuquerque to share ideas, connect, and learn.

ArtsFund wants to acknowledge the passing and celebrate the life of Robert "Bob" Cline. Bob was a friend and supporter of the arts in Seattle, serving as a trustee and chairman of the Seattle Rep as well as a board member and later, board chair of ArtsFund. Under his steady leadership and care, Bob provided stability at nonprofit organizations across the region, from arts and culture to healthcare. His enthusiasm for board service helped make our community better for generations to come. We are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind.

Unrestricted support, like the Community Accelerator Grant, is especially vital for programs that generate deep community impact without significant earned revenue. Wooden O, Seattle Shakespeare’s long-running free outdoor summer series, exemplifies this challenge.

“When you don't have access to specialized funding for something, then you need that general operating support,” Institutional Development Officer Annie Lareau adds, to direct funds where they are needed most critically. When so much across the sector feels uncertain, investing in a program as enduring as Wooden O signals a deliberate choice to honor Seattle theatre’s past while building toward what comes next.
