Thank you SEF for supporting this great initiative.

🎶 GRANTEE SPOTLIGHT! 🎺🥁

We are thrilled to share another of our 2026–2027 SEF Grant award recipients: the Scituate Public Schools Music Department!
SEF is proud to provide a $1,500 grant to fund the Band Olympics Development Academy, an initiative created to support and empower our elementary band students.

🎵 Why This Matters: Historically, many of Scituate’s METCO students who start an instrument in elementary school haven’t had the access or resources needed to continue through high school band. This program directly bridges that gap.

✨ What the Academy Offers:
Weekly After-School Practice: A supervised environment once a week for both METCO and local Scituate elementary musicians to practice individually, play in small groups, and review songs together.
Transportation Access: METCO students will have direct access to a bus home after practice, removing transportation barriers.

Every student with a passion for music deserves the support and resources to pursue it. We are so proud to help bring this program to life!

🤝 Get Involved: Behind every grant we fund is a community of dedicated volunteers! Whether you have an hour to lend a hand or want to help behind the scenes, we’d love your help.

Our 2026 Battle of the Bands judges have been up to some pretty amazing stuff lately! Miss Julia Violet was just nominated for 3 New England Music Awards, and Mike Mangini has been busy touring with Godsmack, headlining huge shows all around the world - including a recent tour date in Europe that saw over 700,000 fans in attendance! We are so lucky to have had Julia and Mike as guest judges for our 2026 event! Their insight and advice for our young musicians was invaluable!

There's incredible musical talent in our own Scituate Schools! Supporting Scituate Friends of Music benefits our community and enriches music education and opportunities for our students. We just may have the next huge star growing up right here in Scituate!
