The Emma Hofmann Memorial Fund is dedicated to the belief that every person, especially those who are lonely, scared, or in need of a friend, should be loved and supported, which Emma exemplified throughout her life. Diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) at age 17, Emma fought her illness with courage and grace for over two years before her passing on New Years Day 2017. As her family and f
riends have known from the time she was very young, Emma was a fundamentally kind and gentle soul. Yet even we were surprised and humbled by the countless number of people who reached out to us during Emma's illness, and immediately following her passing, to tell us stories of how Emma's unabating kindness had touched their lives personally. Emma practiced the simple belief that every person, especially those who are lonely, scared, or in need of a friend should be welcomed and embraced. She understood that actions are often more powerful than words, and consistently reached out to those who needed a friend. She made those around her feel cared for and valued for who they are, with no strings attached. In short, she practiced Kindness every day of her life. With that in mind, we have created the Emma Hofmann Memorial Fund to preserve and promote Emma's legacy of Kindness, Compassion, and Care for those in need. Donations to the Emma Hofmann Memorial Fund will therefore go to those individuals and organizations that dedicate themselves through their actions, to the credo by which Emma lived her life; that Kindness in our words and actions is the simplest and purest form of love that we can give to one another. The Emma Hofmann Memorial Fund is a registered 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.
