☀️We know the extended forecast looks nice. We could see mid 60s this week.
And we know what you’re thinking, “Winter’s over. I can finally take this thing out of the back seat.”

🚨Don’t fall for it! It’s a trick!

Because everyone in these parts should know the moment you remove that snow brush, winter immediately reminds us that it's not over with one more snowstorm or at least more ice.

It’s basically science at this point.

So please. For the good of the entire state and your windshield view, just leave the snow brush where it is. Thanks NY State Dept of Transportation.

#8 Updated, Coastal Storm Advisory February 25, 2026.
SCITUATE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY

DPW crews continued to work diligently to clear out from the storm. We have multiple pieces of heavy equipment deployed in Scituate and will continue to deploy these over the next several days. We ask that residents be patient as we dig out from this historic storm. Final snow totals exceed 30” Last night we had 44% of Scituate proper without power and all of Humarock is without power. As of this morning there are 248 residents on Scituate proper. We want to thank our partners at National Grid for the outstanding work that they have done in Scituate. Considering the magnitude of the storm, the speed of restoration has been impressive, Special shoutout to Scituate’s own Peter Duggan, our NGrid liaison Peter has worked tirelessly with our Emergency Management team to coordinate restoration efforts. They still have multiple crews in Scituate to work on power restoration. All outages have been assigned crews and full restoration is expected by the end of the day. If you are currently without power, please make sure that you have reported the outage to the power company. Do not assume that they know you are out.

We continue to pressure Eversource to expedite the repairs necessary to bring Humarock back on line. The issues are in North Marshfield that is preventing the power getting to Humarock. An estimated restoration time of Friday is unacceptable.

Town Offices including the Town Hall and the Library will be open regular hours today if residents still without power need a place to get warm and power devices (the COA has coffee and snacks!).

In case of emergencies, dial 911. Dial 781-545-1212 for non-emergency situations.

#3 Updated Info provided by the SCITUATE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY
Coastal Storm Advisory February 22, 2026.
A powerful coastal storm will impact southern New England and Scituate starting later tonight into most of the day on Monday. This is currently forecast to be a “Classic Nor’easter” with high wind and astronomically high tides. However, the wind direction and the astronomical high tides are likely to create minor/moderate coastal flooding during the high tides on Monday and likely into Tuesday. Residents should prepare for coastal flooding at this time. We are paying particular attention to the high tides early Monday morning (3:05am), Monday afternoon (3:32pm) and Tuesday morning (4:00am). Both Monday and Tuesday morning tides are 10’1” tides.

Heavy wet snow is now forecast at 18”-24” and wind gusts exceeding 60mph are also expected at the height of the storm. The combination of high winds and heavy snow can lead to the possibility of widespread power outages that could last for several days. Residents should prepare for a coastal storm event. Gas up and check your generators and make sure you charge your electronic devices before the storm hits.

Coastal residents in areas heavily impacted by who are planning on leaving, please do so by early this evening. If you do evacuate, please let the Town know that you have evacuated by clicking on the following link:
https://www.scituatema.gov/emergency-management/webforms/i-have-evacuated
Please stay off the roads during the height of the storm! We are anticipating white out conditions that will make driving treacherous. Anticipate that coastal roads may be impassable during the storm.
The Town is not anticipating opening an emergency shelter at this time. Should conditions change and warrant shelter operations, we will make an announcement at that time. The Town is deploying a limited amount of sand and bags to the parking lot of St. Mary’s if residents wish to make themselves some sandbags.
The transfer station schedule will be closed at 2:00pm this afternoon to allow crews to prepare for the storm. The Town has also issued a street parking ban from 10:00pm Sunday until noon on Tuesday. This parking ban includes Cole Parkway. Residents living on the coast or in low lying areas prone to flooding may park their vehicles in the Barker Tavern parking lot. These vehicles should be moved as soon as practical after the high tide.

We will be monitoring the forecast and will provide another update as soon as the final storm track becomes clearer over the next 24 hours.

In case of emergencies, dial 911. Dial 781-545-1212 for non-emergency situations.

Extreme Cold Weather Advisory

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY

Good morning,

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Weather Advisory for Southeastern New England for Saturday into Sunday with 3-6 inches of snow expected throughout the day on Saturday.

Beginning Saturday at 6pm, winds from the Northwest will become gusty throughout the overnight hours and continue into Sunday evening. During this period, temperatures are expected to fall into the single digit range and wind chills are expected to be as low as -15 degrees. The winds and low temperatures are expected to continue into Monday when warmer temperatures are expected.

During this time, residents should limit time outdoors, this includes pets. Follow recommended guidelines when using space heaters, there should always be a 3 foot clearance in all directions when using a space heater.

If a fireplace, or a wood stove is used to heat your home, keep a fire extinguisher handy. Make sure emergency generators or secondary heating systems are well ventilated. If you lose heating, move into a single room. At night, cover windows and external doors with extra blankets or sheets. Wrap pipes in insulation or layers of newspapers covered in plastic to prevent them from freezing. Let a trickle of warm water run from a faucet to keep water moving through your pipes.

If your pipes freeze, open all faucets all the way, remove any insulation, and heat the frozen pipe with a hair dryer or wrap with towels soaked in hot water. Never use an open flame to thaw pipes.

The Scituate Town Library will be available to residents as a warming center.

Library hours are Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Sunday, 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm and Monday, 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Coastal Flooding Expected Sunday into Monday Advisory #2

The storm offshore will move north Sunday into Monday bringing wind and 2-4 inches of snow. The Storm track has trended farther offshore since yesterday which results in lower water level forecasts. However, the combination of high astronomical tides and storm surge, still has the potential to cause moderate coastal flooding and erosion along the Eastern Massachusetts coast Sunday into Monday. A Coastal Flood Watch has been issued for the Eastern MA coastline. The watch or other coastal flood warnings may need to be extended into Tuesday given the lingering storm surge and high astronomical tides.

This storm is still 2 days away and there is a potential for the track to change. Coastal residents should continue to prepare, by securing outdoor items in anticipation of the high winds and begin preparing for a moderate coastal flooding event.

Wind forecasts have been lowered, but a chance for scattered power outages still exist.

Please continue to keep an eye on the forecast as it develops. Updates will continue until the storm passes.
