Just a glimpse of the 10th Annual Karen B. Johnson Family Fun Day, at our welcoming Steinmetz Park on July 25th.
Our volunteers from the community, Junior ROTC and Parks and recreation employees and others made it the success it was. Around 1200 people in attendance with smiles and conversations. Congressman Tonko attended with two members of the British Parliament and feasted on hot dogs that they had never had ,and a desire to learn more about how the event started and also spoke with many community tablers.
In addition to all of the activities the food bank provided 2,500 lb of fresh food for distribution.
Sincerest thanks to our committee that started planning for next year as soon cleanup was done and to our generous donors who ,year after year reach deep.

Sister Maria Rosa Querini, a 91-year-old nun at St. Anthony’s Church in Schenectady, received the 2026 Brenda H. The 2026 Good Neighbor Award went to Sister Maria Rosa was born in Northern Italy and moved to Schenectady in 1960 to Teach kindergarten at St Anthony's school then offering her services to the Pasrish. With a love for cooking she is known for making fresh bread, canned tomatoes, pasta sauce and pasta regularly. Sister is the respected leader of the self proclaimed "Sister's angels" who help her good deeds. She also is a major contributor to the annual Festa at St. Anthony's church.

At 90 she still has a heart full of love for the community and is well deserving of some recognition. As a token of appreciation the Goose Hill Neighborhood Association presented her with a certificate, blanket, and a few items to enjoy some self care.
