The application portal opens June 1. Deadline: July 1, 2026, 11:59 PM EST.

Due to an overwhelming increase in applications, the portal will close when 1,300 applications are received or the July 1 deadline passes — whichever comes first. Real-time submission counts are not available, so we strongly encourage artists to apply early.

Our review process depends on the time and care of our dedicated panels of reviewers, and we want to ensure that each application receives meaningful attention. This pilot is an effort to balance accessibility with a sustainable, fair review process.

Two application cycles are offered each year.

Martin Puryear's “Bending the Arc” is now part of the Obama Presidential Center—opening soon in Chicago!

Hand-carved, then 3D scanned, enlarged, and cast in stainless steel—the sculpture is a tribute to John Lewis and all who do the hard, courageous work of justice.
