HELPING YOUNG SCHOLARS EXCEL IN HIGH SCHOOL AND GO TO COLLEGE

Saratoga Sponsor-A-Scholar (SSAS) selects 10 sophomore & juniors from the Saratoga Springs City School District annually and provides them with mentors, academic tutoring, PSAT and SAT training and other help with college preparation during their last 3 years of high school and yearly cash stipends while in college. Each scholar must be eligible for federal assistance through the free school lunch

program, be engaged learners, and possess good citizenship characteristics. SSAS dedicates up to $10,000 to each scholar’s enrichment:
• $4,000 during their last three years of high school for computers, supplies, study skill seminars, tutoring, PSAT and SAT training and entrance fees, college visits and attendance at cultural events.
• $2,500 to each scholar for each year they successfully complete in college and a new computer as they enter college.

THE SEMESTER IS OVER! Siena University Senior Anitza stopped by to pick up her semester stipend. She will graduated in May and hopes to continue her studies to be a Physicians Assistant. Anitza was thrilled to hear that SSAS is now able to give their college students $1500/semester thanks to the support of our community of generous donors.

GIVING THANKS: We recently received a generous grant at Saratoga Casino Hotel's Make a Difference Day. High School senior Justice Paige shared the experiences & benefits she receives from our program. We appreciate the many ways that Saratoga Casino supports our community.

SCHOLARS AND FRIENDS: Jasmyne and Lily met in high school through Sponsor a Scholar. They are enjoying campus life & excelling in the classroom. They sent this photo with a note saying they are now best friends, doing well and they both LOVE Russell Sage College !

WICKED GOOD DAY! Despite the rainy skies, our group enjoyed an outstanding musical performance of WICKED at Proctors and a dinner stop on the way home. We thank our generous donors for making this field trip possible for our deserving scholars.

COLLEGE KID!: You may know Jordan from By Druthers where he's been working for the last 3 years. Now he is a college freshman at University at Albany, SUNY, living on campus and studying Business and Entrepreneurship. We can't wait to see what his future brings!

MOVE IN DAY! Jasmyne started classes today at Russell Sage College after moving in to her dorm room over the weekend. She will be using her creative talents majoring in Interior Design. She feels that she won't be homesick -her roommate is her cousin!
