We are incredibly grateful to Deputy Leah Howe from the Saratoga County Sheriff's Department for taking the time to speak with our cadets during drill day—and for bringing along her amazing K-9 partner, Doc!
Deputy Howe shared her powerful journey to becoming a sheriff, emphasizing overcoming adversity, persevering through setbacks, and staying determined despite challenges. Her ability to communicate with passion and authenticity was truly inspiring. She highlighted how empathy and effective communication are essential—not just in law enforcement, but in life.
And of course, K-9 Doc, a very friendly yellow lab and expertly trained explosives detection dog, was a huge hit with the cadets! His presence added an extra layer of excitement and curiosity, helping our cadets learn about the important role K-9 officers play in law enforcement.
By bringing in professionals like Deputy Howe, we aim to expose our cadets to a diverse array of career opportunities, helping them see the many paths available to them. Her message of finding community and support among colleagues resonated deeply, leaving a lasting impact on our future leaders.
