Today we will be at Swan Park beginning at 2 pm. We will be next to the basketball courts. We will have a couple of canopies up for shade. Please bring your chair and visit with us and help us remember JB. Today marks 6 YEARS that he was taken from us. We will be donating 70 basketballs in partnership with the State Employees Credit Union. 🕊️

We are excited to partner with the State Employee Credit Union for the Back to School Bash on August 1st from 2-5 pm, where we will be giving away 70 basketballs to local youth. Our booth will be located near the basketball court. Attendees can learn more about how to receive a free basketball at the event.

Today, we’ll be eating here to support Rick Mares from Copy Shack. Rick has been giving back to the JB White Foundation, and we’re backing him as he works toward a double lung transplant. His generosity has helped our community—now it’s our turn to support him. 🙏🏼

Today, Thursday, July 30, Bonita Restaurant is honored to support one of our own in Santa Fe.

From 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, a portion of all food sales will be donated to Rick Mares and his family as Rick continues his courageous fight with serious lung disease.

Rick is a beloved member of our local business community, a devoted father, and a dear friend with a sharp sense of humor and a love for the community he is apart of.
Today, we have the opportunity to stand beside him and his family and give back.

Someone at the tournament came up to me and asked if JB really said what's on the back of our shirts. It was a quote from his Twitter/X account. Yes, he did. 🧡

“Not only am I trying to be a great basketball player, I wanna be a great person!! I want everyone to say I love being around that kid because his energy is so positive and he never talks down on anyone or looks over anyone, he treats everyone with respect no matter who it is...”

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in our 4th Annual JB White Memorial Tournament this weekend, and especially the teams that traveled here. We had a total of 100 teams! ❤️

We want to thank all of the volunteers that made it happen—volunteers who continue to carry JB’s legacy and love him.

We hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Our goal was to make this a fun tournament for the youth. We provided free T-shirts to all players and coaches, had music, balloons, and large trophies and medals. Our goal was also to spread gun violence awareness through my grandson’s tragic passing to gun violence. August 1st will mark six years since he was taken from us. When I say “us,” I’m talking about me and my family, his friends, coaches, teammates, classmates and the community. He is so loved and missed.

We look forward to next year’s event, and we hope the teams cone back.
