Applications are now open for the Homewise 2026 Livable Santa Fe Fellowship!

This four-month, stipended leadership and advocacy program brings together community members, professionals, and civic leaders who want to help shape a more affordable, sustainable, and livable Santa Fe for everyone.

Through speaker series events, strategy sessions, and hands-on community engagement, fellows will build skills, connections, and real-world advocacy experience around housing and livability issues.

Housing for Santa Fe is a partnership between a number of local nonprofit and for-profit housing-related organizations, including affordable housing nonprofit Homewise. Deputy CEO Johanna Gilligan, a member of the Citizens Advisory Working Group, wrote in a Friday email the city has lost nearly a year of time the affordable housing incentives could have gone into effect to test whether they are effective at spurring faster or less costly development.

“Ultimately, this delay is making rent costs and home prices higher to Santa Feans, many of whom are having to choose to move out of Santa Fe in order to find affordable housing,” Gilligan wrote. “We have to do better for our residents.”

Members of two advisory working groups the city convened to offer feedback on the plan expressed frustration about the delay.
