Audubon Southwest

Audubon Southwest Arizona + New Mexico protecting birds & the places they need.

Created through the joining of Audubon's Arizona and New Mexico programs, Audubon Southwest brings together a team of leading biologists, hydrologists, policy experts, and educators under a shared banner to advance the cause of bird conservation through on-the-ground conservation, scientific advancement, education, and policy change. At our three Audubon facilities; the Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Sala

do Audubon Center, Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary, and Appleton-Whittell Research Ranch, we will forge connections between our communities and the natural world, engage in scientific discovery and education, and care for the wildlife habitat which we steward. Learn more about our programs and ways you can take action for birds and their habitats at our websites: az.audubon.org and nm.audubon.org.

The Colorado River Delta—with its marshes and lagoons, back waters and mudflats—once spanned across 2 million acres in the Upper Gulf of California. Today, at 44,000 acres, the Ciénega de Santa Clara is a remnant of what once was. And still, hundreds of thousands of birds rely on it.
